Bigcheese wrote:Is the Captain really Lucy? I'm way behind on all the alts, we should create an alt thread to keep on top of things. Anyway back to the thread topic, Canberra or Parramatta region? Having lived in both areas, it's a no contest, Canberra is a much more desirable place to live. Same with the Gold Coast, it's a terrible city, definitely the worst I've lived in.
Good to see BIGCHEESE!

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Woodgers, i get that. BUT, Sydney has 9 clubs or something......NINE!

The way they changed clubs, swarm to another opportunity at a club north, south, east or west shouldn't be a credit to the club at the end. Eg. Gallen.

We lost Carney, Dugan, to cheating, scummy Syd clubs. They cashed in on our diligence and integrity.

Now Parra are paying Junior what.....about three times what they paid for him before? The same guy who played third grade rah rah and dined with thugs and underworld figures?

And the Titans are extremely keen on paying Boyd about 30% or more than he's worth?

Austin from bit player to $700k offer?
Whitehead and Hodgson have gone from ESL level to NRL premium. Tapine was worth the gamble after all it seems.

Canberra can't be that bad after all.

There's been an awful lot of invective in this thread. I admit I lost my cool too... maybe justifiably... or maybe not! But in any event... in moderator mode... can I ask if people could cut the invective from here and just tried to be nicer to everyone else? Thanks.

Maybe he's waiting to see what happens with Boyd to try and squeeze some more money out of us, but that would imply that he actually wants to stay and just wants our offer to increase.

I assume everybody is Lucy until proven otherwise. Having an online fight with Lucy does not constitute proof. He's had many a heated argument with his other alts.

8 weeks on the sidelines changes the equation. Much greater incentive for the Raiders to offer an early release, less of an incentive for the Eels to push for one.

It went quiet way before he got injured. And that's because he hasn't actually agreed to terms with the Eels despite what has been reported.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Paulo has been holding off, hoping that some extra dollars might now flow his way to stay in Canberra.

Or a higher Canberra offer to leverage more out of Parramatta.

We're not getting both, this will be an either or. Either we sign Paulo as our top prop or we go to market for a top prop.

Most likely it's delayed by Parra trying to get as little on the cap as possible and all the negotiations and introductions that have to happen for that to occur.

Not so we could pay big money to keep Paulo, and get Klemmer for the remainder of his contract on unders!

I think you're right about that which is a shame.

I know that the popular opinion here is to not overspend on props, but I agree that Klemmer and Paulo would be a good combo. You don't want someone like Paulo as your main man, but he is a great complementary prop to your main prop. He is much more suited to impact on shorter minutes like Boyd. That's why the Boyd/Paulo combo didn't work imo and why they had to be split up. Imagine if we let go of Boyd and kept Vaughan instead... Vaughan/Paulo would likely be a superb combo as well.

The trouble is getting Paulo on the coin he's worth for his output... although they're just rumours, the type of offers I've seen for him are simply too high.

In other words, I don't think we should be signing Paulo as our top prop (although we may have no choice in the end if we can't come up with a better solution).

This shtick of yours is as tedious as i've seen on this forum. Why the **** are you even here commenting if you think that the only commentary on the team that is valid is if it's important to the idiots running the club?

Grow up, Brew.
