Found the reddit thread...basically nothing new, its been deleted from his insta story I think now anyway but she was giving him **** for partying all weekend and a few messages between him and someone else...not a great look right before he's sentenced for alcohol related violence

Yeah, he’s becoming more trouble than he’s worth. EDIT.

Also, **** is with the Cruiser love? That should be Ricky’s #2 recruitment question;
Is he a good bloke?
Does he drink Cruisers?

It is the eve of his sentencing for alcohol related violence and his partner has reached a point where he is such a booze hound she is publicly shaming the father of her children for his alcohol problems. And he doesn't try and hide it but shares the message stream between he and another mocking not only her but the court system by openly claiming he does not care.

The guy is beyond help. He has massive issues. If the club stands by him through all of this, they are an absolute joke and deserve to continue to be the laughing stock of the NRL.

Guys, you're breaching forum guidelines. Insulting mods doesn't help and may result in a temporary suspension.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

The sackable offence was what he’s going to court for
The problem with this is he’s clearly not got any interest in making the right choices off the feild, which means he’s likely going to continue to be an inconsistent player on the field and no someone we should be relying on, least of being one of our highest paid players

Surely we can get Vodka Cruiser on board as a 3rd party sponsor.

No other club in the NRL has done as much to promote their product,

He's not beyond help, but if you want help you have to first understand that you need it, and then accept it
Wighton shows no signs of doing either. In fact to quote the man he's "not changing for no one"

Also manages Doogz.

That’s really stretching things to suggest a lack of accountability on the football field leads to this kind of behaviour.

He’s clearly got problems, and clearly has no interest in resolving them despite sitting out half a season and facing sentencing. Keeping him at the club is asking for more failure. He isn’t going to learn without being sacked, and history suggests probably not even then.

Been saying this since the incident happened and no one will convince me otherwise

We’d be better off sacking this clown, and using his cap money for a major upgrade in the halves.

And on a personal note, on field impacts aside, I think Jack Wighton is objectively a **** bloke (evidenced by his assault of 5 men in civic) and a deadbeat dad (evidenced by his social media postings laughing about how frustrated the mother of his child is with the lack of his involvement in their child and accusations made on social media about his child support payments), and I don’t like cheering for him.

Two days to go before the penalties applying to his multiple guilty pleas will be known. His immediate future is in the hands of the Court.

If the context of the reported comments is that he is not going to change his off field behavior then it displays an arrogance the Club and NRL can do without. Assault can be life changing for the victims. This is a criminal matter which he doesn't seem to understand the gravity of.

It would be interesting to know the exact wording in an NRL contract which covers criminal behavior. Bringing the game into disrepute seems mild for assault guilty pleas.

The way some of you blokes carry on... it's like none of you ever made a mistake... none of you were ever in a bad place mentally... none of you ever did the wrong thing after a big night. I know that's not true. Maybe you might consider showing a bit of forgiveness and compassion for all the people concerned. Jack Wighton has admitted he's done the wrong thing, but I worry about him, I hope he is getting the help he needs. I can't believe some of the comments on here today... given none of us are perfect.
