Also interesting that when Joel Thompson appeared in front of the ACT Magistrates he was stood down from all club activities. Is that because it was accused behaviour against a woman rather than men?

I think the NRL changed its tune after they stood Brett Stewart down and then he got off.

I’d rather get it done and sorted this week.

This season is a right off.

It probably gets sorted by the courts sometime in the pre season, NRL suspend him for 12 months and typical Raiders/Queenbeyan/Ricky Stuart style we don’t sack him and play the entire season of 2019 with god only knows how much $$ sitting on the sideline again.

Wighton is a dumbass for getting himself in this situation, but to use it as an opportunity to sack him because a bunch of people don't like him playing at fullback is dead set laughable.

Good on the club for sticking by him until this gets sorted in court.

Jack's birthday is February 4, so at least the reason he was out on the town is plausible. I find it amazing that the CCTV footage has not been leaked/hacked/sold as yet. England cricketer Ben Stokes was in a similar position and that footage went around the world.

I like the fact that we have a local junior in the team, but we're honestly paying the guy on potential that I doubt he will ever fulfill. I think we're also paying a centre on FB money, which is insane.

Wanna be a bit cold? This is a good opportunity to cut an overpriced and underperforming player.
I have a funny feeling this is exactly the way the Raiders view it too.
Let Jack go, its crazy paying him top tier fullback coin when the reality is, he is flat out holding his own in first grade, we need to chase Valentine Holmes with what ever cap space is left after Jacks departure

I don't want us to let Jack go as I think he is a top shelf footballer. I agree that having an opportunity to move him from fullback will be beneficial to us going forward.

I respect your opinion in wanting to let him go and use his salary to buy another fullback. However, I don't understand why you would want to replace him with Valentine Holmes. He is less of a fullback than Jack, in my opinion.

Val Holmes is a train wreck at fullback

Charges against Canberra Raiders fullback Jack Wighton revealed

A birthday bash could sink Jack Wighton’s career after the charges against the Canberra Raiders fullback were revealed.

Wighton will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday on three charges of reckless or intentionally inflicting actual bodily harm, four counts of common assault, and urinating in a public place.

I'm beyond shocked that we're still going to name him. Yeah he's not convicted but I doubt the club is thinking maybe it's just a case of mistaken identity...

Police interview: Mr Wighton can you please state, for the record, what happened on the night in question?
Jack: Well, I was taking a piss in public...
Police: whoa up, you were public urinating?
Jack: ah yeah?
Police: got ya you sicko! Add that to the charges!

Must be a Canberra thing. Didn’t Toddles punch up one of Tilse’s mates, then took a leak on him?

Generally people don't urinate on other people, or urinate into their own mouths. Or perform simulated acts with dogs, or skip injury recovery sessions to get drunk on a rooftop, or drink drive, or throw moisturiser at people in apparent road rage incidents.

How did it get to be that everyone calls Jack Wighton by his first name? Jack did this, Jack did that...

I can't remember that happening with any other player.

I think it happened during that 2016 judiciary before the finals when everyone saw it as an excuse to make #JackOff puns.

Just didn't work with #WightonOff.

Now I’m not a doctor but, how can you be charged for 5 counts of assault on 3 people? Did he hit two of them like twice as hard?

Each time he had a go he can be charged. Guess the CCTV has him belting them a few times each at least.

Judge is exactly what he wants to avoid.... not sure he will have too much luck. A good QC will get him good behavior, and push for no record (depending what actually happened) as he is a first timer.

Still I thought Cotric had a good first time at FB, could be there for some time IMO. Also I heard a rumor about Wighton to Newcastle to play center?

All in my opinion but just sounds like he was taking a piss and these guys started giving him **** and they biffed. Jack has allegedly given them a hiding and now they pressing charges. Would be intersting to know if the other guys have charges against them.

The articles that have come out make it sound like Jack has assaulted 3 guys? How come no one on here is backing Jack - 3 blokes against 1 guy but all the hate is against Jack - what if he was just defending him self.
