We should be going after Nofo, stuck in reserves at Wests and playing some damn good footy.

Ziggy Niszczot captained Souths from the wing in the 80's.
Re: Canberra Raiders star Jack Wighton in alleged nightclub fight
Yep I wouldn’t argue against that though I would want to know why he’s stuck in reserve grade.
I bow down to thee oh great Nickman, the wisest of the wise, your political adroitness is unsurpassed, your sagacity is unmatched, your wisdom shines through on this forum amongst us mere mortals as bright as your scalp under the light of a full moon, never shall I doubt your analytical prowess again. You are my hero, my lord, my savior, may you accept my offerings so you continue to bless us with your genius.

Nofo's defense isn't up to Cleary's standards.

Re: Canberra Raiders star Jack Wighton in alleged nightclub fight
Let's just say this leads to Wighton getting sacked (which I'm not a huge fan of, but I don't want him to remain at fullback either) and the rumours about Corey Norman are true. We then move on Austin and Paulo. A side of:
1-Cotric
2-Croker (c)
3-New Signing to replace Wighton
4-Leilua
5-Rapana
6-Norman
7-Sezer
8-Gubb
9-Hodgson
10-Boyd
11-Tapine
12-Papalli
13-Whitehead
14-Havili
15-Soliola
16-Lui
17-New more mobile prop signing to replace Paulo.
Reserves - Knight, Murchie, Garvey, Hingano, Oldfield + a few more cheap depth signings/young blokes promoted to the top 25 (in this fantasy I also release Williams and Bateman).
I think that looks a pretty decent side, and probably a better football side across the park than what we have now.
Who is off contract in these positions? It's doesn't look like a great year to be hitting the player market. We've been linked to Felise Kaufusi and I would say he's comfortably the best front rower available and if we lose Paulo you'd think we'd need another hard hitting prop to go with Boyd, as all of our others aren't really dynamic enough (although Gubb could be, possibly). In terms of outside backs, it's equally thin - Sione Mata'utia is off contract, but it's largely has beens and never will be's up for grabs this year.

felise is a 2nd rower not a front rower.
say we do lose jack i would go after masters, he seems the only great back on that list unless you want a winger and go for mansour again

Vatuvei captained from the wing. And I might be wrong but didn’t Nightengale in a game or two as well?

Kaufusi can play both - if he's off the bench as impact I don't think it makes much difference.

Nofo apparently has an attitude problem. I reckon we could get Barba for fairly cheap.

Oh I'm not saying that's a reason we shouldn't get him people were just wondering why Cleary had no use for him and that's what I've heardThe Nickman wrote:The irony of those two sentences together in the same post is pretty amazingCJR wrote:Nofo apparently has an attitude problem. If we sacked Jack and signed Barba we'd be going backwards in culture not forward.
I don't know the details but I really hope we only suspend Jack but retain him for his return.

If we push Cotric to fullback, Croker to the wing, and brought in Josh Morris ... rage? happy?

Tigers have a dozen captains this year, surely at least one of those is a winger.BlameItOnTheBooger wrote: ↑April 8, 2018, 1:06 pm Vatuvei captained from the wing. And I might be wrong but didn’t Nightengale in a game or two as well?

Truth told if Jack is so keen to move back to centre as rumoured then if we don't have to sack him, that's the ideal move.

Canberra Raiders to stick by fullback Jack Wighton
The Canberra Raiders are set to stick by Jack Wighton despite the star fullback facing nine charges in court for an alleged brawl outside a Civic nightclub. Wighton will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning with charges expected to range from affray to assault, and the outcome could have a massive bearing on the 25-year-old's future.
However the club has no immediate plans to stand Wighton down from playing at NRL level and likely won't do so until the matter is settled in court.

Depends on the plea
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Only in professional sports is drinking vodka cruisers on a roof seen as a hundred times more serious than being charged with assault.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Oh well . Cant expect to be a public figure and get into this ****
Re: Canberra Raiders star Jack Wighton in alleged nightclub fight
The issue with Dugan wasn't cruisers, it was that he said he could get himself sacked and get a better contract almost straight away and then the NRL sat by and let him do it.

Indeed. But still in perspective I see this as potentially a much more serious stain on the club, even if Dugan had a history of irresponsible behaviour.
Also interesting that when Joel Thompson appeared in front of the ACT Magistrates he was stood down from all club activities. Is that because it was accused behaviour against a woman rather than men?

Yep,
Was literally trying to get himself sacked.
In hindsight we should have just kept fining Dugan and make name him as 18th man for Souths Logan every week for the rest of the year.
