Yeah... Because taking a stand on stuff in the past has worked a treat for us hasn't it?

Actually quite like the kid. He seems a nice level headed guy when interviewed and his interactions with fans and kids is great.
I don't think he's a very good fullback. I think he is an excellent centre.

I still maintain they need to stand him down for a period. Absolutely. So - take that stance with a grain if salt.

The NRL has established its approach in cases such as this... they don't impose any punishment unless the courts find a player guilty of an indiscretion. They don't make a player stand down... and nor should we. There's no reason for the Raiders to do anything other teams don't do... or prejudge any legal proceedings.

I do like Jack and I feel sorry for him... but if found guilty, he will appropriately serve a punishment, not only from the court, but from the club/NRL. In the meantime, he's not even been charged... and if he is, he's innocent until proven guilty.

Well I should have qualified my statement with a "Hates wighton at fullback with a passion." I had no idea how you felt about him in a personal sense.

That part is entirely true. He makes mistakes I wouldn't expect a fullback in under 20's to make.
Put him at centre and I'd probably stand on a street corner with a banner of the guy. He's a superstar.

He's also punched on with a bunch of dudes in the city a week or two out from our season opener and needs to take a hard look at himself.
I hope he responds well.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Well, I wouldn't put it past them.

I'm with Johno. While Lodge and Packer are in the league the NRL wouldn't have a leg to stand on going after Jack. Which is precisely why I'm certain they will.

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker backs Jack Wighton's selection despite ACT Policing investigation

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker backs coach Ricky Stuart's decision to pick fullback Jack Wighton despite an ongoing police investigation into an alleged brawl in Civic.

"I think it's fine, the way it's been handled. Once the NRL integrity unit has to get involved then that's when everyone else gets involved. If it does come to that we'll deal with it then," Croker said. "It's out of our hands at the moment and until we find out the detail and what happens there then we can go from there. We're just focussed on [Thursday]."

Paul Kent on The Matty Johns Show just said Jack is in trouble. Charges will probably be laid and the NRL will stand him down, which will put pressure on the Raiders to sack him.....

I don't understand how they can possibly put pressure on us to sack him unless they ban him from signing anywhere else. Otherwise he just becomes another redemption story.

Would absolutely be the right thing for the team. He shouldn’t have been locked up so long at fullback cash in the first place.

Can Ricky make that call against a favourite though?

Perhaps we can argue that he gets a reduced contract and moves position as punishment and everyone’s kind of happy

Sacking Jack is absurd. What was the nature of this alleged fight? Was anyone severely injured? A season long suspension just sounds utterly ridiculous and sacking him even more so. He still has a place in this team just not at the back in my opinion.

Free up the cash elsewhere there's others who haven't been performing. At least Jack has been good in attack
