Re: Rabbitohs showing interest in signing Josh Papalii
I think Stuart is too invested in the players we have. He seems to be a bit too much buddy-buddy with them, rather he shows a bit of a hard edge with some of these guys. Not sure of any examples of him making tough decisions with players, only cap related decisions really.
No way on our form over the past 12-18 months someone doesn't get dropped for a period.
My two cents is Papa is on more like 800K and I'd be happy if he stayed but really two year deal should be the aim. Paulo would be the guy I would let go, think Boydy will have a good year this year if aggressive running and post contact meters early in the season is a good indicator.
Could handle Austin leaving along with BJ. Too much money for a misfiring BJ and a 6 that cannot defend. Wighton will never move from fullback as Ricky would never move his favourite so aim should be Cotric in the centers and find a winger.
As for a 6 no idea but Maloney would've been a good pickup.
Otherwise we should try and sign Ivan Cleary and have good chance at Nathan - but that 2-3 years time anyhow.

Like I've expressed before would not get into a bidding war with the Rabbitohs.
For an "elite" in this squad he doesn't add value to the pay packet.

No use getting a new coach to bring a new attitude etc and then leaving him no good players because they are out of form.

The new coach can work with what he's got, let go whoever and sign some decent players next year.

And the coach has unto the end of the year to talk about extending players contracts etc..so he has some control for next years squad also...

Hope he doesn't leave. He qualifies for long serving player allowance in a few years.

There will always be rumours and innuendo when a players contract is up and they would be silly not to listen. If he wants to go then he will go regardless of the offer as these guys are not really short of coin these days.
Players say they want to do the best for their families but an extra $100k on a contract for a representative player is not always best for them if they have a young family trying to bring stability and not going around the countryside like gypsies chasing money.

I will be extremely pissed off if we let both Paulo and Papaili go. I can live with one of them walking not both.
Considering Paulo is all but off to Parra, I hope we match if not get in the ball park of what Papa is requesting with a move to the middle at either Prop or Lock.

If he goes to the titans he's not chasing premierships. Cash or 'lifestyle'.

Have to agree, Papalii is a must keep if Paulo leaves. Even if we have to pay $800K. He has been our only Origin player in the past 5 years.SeeBee101 wrote:I will be extremely pissed off if we let both Paulo and Papaili go. I can live with one of them walking not both.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

I reckon a better bet would be you have to make TR quote and agree with every post GeM makes for 3 weeks, and give reasons why it's a good post.cat wrote: ↑April 18, 2018, 4:35 pmIf you likeT_R wrote:Hey Cat, can we bet on this one? I want in on this.

With Paulo out the door, if Papa leaves Sticky better have 1 x solid first grade and 1 x rep quality forwards up his belt.

Re: Rabbitohs showing interest in signing Josh Papalii
I would be hoping if anything it'd be minus Wighton and possibly Austin.
Again, a bit of fresh blood could be a good thing. If we recruit half decently. If the Norman rumours ring true: upgrade on Austin. If we can land a decent wing-threequarter, Cotric goes to the back and we see what he can do.

I was going to suggest that the loser has to post only the direct opposite of their actual opinion on every subject for a week....so about the same as yours, really.

Re: Rabbitohs showing interest in signing Josh Papalii
The way sezer has played this past two weeks i don't think we need to upgrade to another half. Whether he can keep it up is another story but this has been one of the first times we have seen him giving compete control and its working, i feeling positive about his role. I think the cash from Paulo might just be used to upgrade a few more contracts. All this being said that is based off if our current small but hopeful run of form can continue, if they have learned from some ghastly 2017 and early 2018 performances and find some consistency i think we might have to upgrade a few contracts, they are all still so young....
Ah, might as well jump (Jump!) Might as well jump Go ahead an' jump (jump!) Go ahead and jump Ow oh, hey you! Who said that?
