We can’t find the money for TPJ but the premiers can buy Crichton. Laughable really.

Telegraph is reporting that the raiders are interested in John cartwright. Surely our interest was limited to finding a replacement for crawley. Now that cappy is back on board this won't happen. If by some chance the telegraph has actually done some proper research and he is actually a chance of coming I wouldnt be against it. Surely an upgrade on all our existing coaches.

So with Hinganos injury, are we entitled to sign a backup player under these new cap concessions?

The interest was before Mc Fadden joined.

Hasler to return to Sea Eagles as coach

Des Hasler is set to return to Manly as the club’s new head coach, as reported by The Daily Telegraph. It is understood that Hasler will sign a three-year deal with the club, which is expected to be officially announced at 1pm on Monday, with the Sea Eagles calling a press conference.

Hasler has beat out Sea Eagles assistant coach John Cartwright for the role, but it is understood that Cartwright will stay on with the club despite interest from the Canberra Raiders.

He has to be ruled out for at least 12 games of the regular season. I don't think a dislocated shoulder would rule him out that long.

He would miss pretty much the whole offseason though, which I think would rule him out of first grade for at least 6 weeks anyway.

Doubtful. He has to miss half the season. Still waiting on official confirmation about the extent of his injury. But this is what the @NRLPhysio says on Twitter:

Reported right shoulder subluxation (minor dislocation) for Ata Hingano. Was able to play on for 20mins, unfortunately it subluxed again. Hopefully no surgical reconstruction required (3-6 month recovery), season 2019 only 4.5 months away. If no surgery = likely 4-8wks recovery

That sucks for both him and the club. He misses the pre-season and no chance to push his claims for a halves role.

I just hope they do what's required to get his shoulder right. Even if that means missing a chunk of the first half of the season. I'd hate to see him rush back only to leak points like our current halves do. That would be suicide for his career (and possibly for our season)

According to the lurker. Wonder if we are chasing anyone else:

The Raiders are filthy with former Storm half Ryley Jacks, who signed with the Titans last week.

Jacks all but agreed to go to the Raiders before performing a last-minute backflip to head up to the holiday strip last week.

The Raiders are still searching for a halfback to replace Blake Austin, who has signed with Warrington Wolves for next season.

Jacks would have been a good fit for the Raiders - but it never quite got over the line and he is Titans-bound.

If only we could sign a young up and coming half from the warriors, who in his limited first grade opportunities showed good running and ball playing ability.

Oh wait - we did. Then we tried to turn him into a hooker.

Hingano's injury leaves us very short of of viable halves options if Wighton stays at the back.

I hope Stick, Don and Co have a plan to address this unfortunate event.

The fact we're out shopping for halves suggests Ricky is not thinking Wighton to halves. He's already been bitten there.

Hingano isn't really up to the role of a first choice half, unfortunately, so they'll need to find another solution one way or another.
