Pangai jr to Knights is looking likely.

Fair to say if we had the money we would've been a decent chance.

Surely that will be Ron Cootes money ?
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
If we wanted him enough and had the ruthlessness needed to win premierships, the Raiders could have recruited him. Our salary cap management, however, is poor. Our club doesn’t do what’s needed to win premierships. Meanwhile, we re-sign... players who have demonstrated they’re not up to first grade.edwahu wrote: ↑August 31, 2018, 9:49 pm Pangai jr to Knights is looking likely.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
There is no doubt he is a destructive player and we would be crazy not to make a play for him. The hamstring injuries are a little concerning for such a young player. Happy to see any young and talented player leave the Broncos though.
Shoving it in your face since 2017

And then the Raiders tell us they’re going to “build our brand” by taking away a home game from Canberra and the home fans they tell us they “appreciate”. The club is seriously in a complete disarray.greeneyed wrote: ↑August 31, 2018, 11:27 pmIf we wanted him enough and had the ruthlessness needed to win premierships, the Raiders could have recruited him. Uncle Drew... we need a first grade half back in case you hadn’t noticed. We are not getting one in Hingano. Sutton... like the idea... but if he can’t make firsts in ESL he’s not doing it in NRL.UncleDrew wrote: ↑August 31, 2018, 11:58 pmWho’s not up to first grade standard who we have re-signed?greeneyed wrote: ↑August 31, 2018, 11:27 pmIf we wanted him enough and had the ruthlessness needed to win premierships, the Raiders could have recruited him. TPA’s come down to the corporate network of your CEO, Board and coach. Unfortunately our coach isn’t liked, our CEO has no real network or contacts and the board is to union heavy. That’s why we can’t get TPA’s like the roosters and other clubs.

So who exactly do you want to sign to take thes guys places? Lui is a solid backup and has been solid all year, Williams, whilst not elite has easily been our best half all year, hingano has played off the bench in positions hes not familiar with, plus hes young with a lot of talent, dont know which bateman your referring to thereLastRaider wrote: ↑September 1, 2018, 7:05 amPlayers that are resigned and are not up to first grade standard areBigPapa wrote:Dunamis Lui he should only be needed when we have injuries if he's in our best 17 next year we're in trouble.UncleDrew wrote: ↑August 31, 2018, 11:58 pmWho’s not up to first grade standard who we have re-signed?greeneyed wrote: ↑August 31, 2018, 11:27 pmIf we wanted him enough and had the ruthlessness needed to win premierships, the Raiders could have recruited him. Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
You've misinterpreted how the Broncos and Roosters use TPAs. What you mean to say is our club doesn't rort the system like they do. In reality none of the other 13 clubs do either. Although Eels and Sharks have had a decent crack at it recently.LastRaider wrote: ↑September 1, 2018, 6:09 am TPA’s come down to the corporate network of your CEO, Board and coach. Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
TPA's hurt but are not the biggest issue. The Roosters have one of the lower TPAs. The reality of the network Politis has and their location isn't something we can directly compete with. Same with the Broncos.
We just need to get better at managing the cap. At this time of year you should always have a stack of cash so you can work out your front and backloading next year. The spend against the cap for 2019 isn't even finalised for another 14 months.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
Yeah, harsh on Lui. He isn't a top line starter but he is a decent bench middle.
If our rotation was a top line signing, Papalii, Guler, Lui, Havilli, Sia with Horsburgh and Sutton next up then I'd be pretty comfortable. It's just when you have Papalii as the only top line player it looks inadequate.

Bronx have TPJ and Ofa. I suppose McGuire and Lodge do their role.
Storm are really just JBrom and NAS, bit of Kaufusi.
Long story short, every team has Lui's in their 17. TBH, he has played better footy than our 2 big boppas, and the rest of the prop depth bar Sia.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
Considering Lui was probably paid around $180k this season, I’d say he was good value.
My guess is he is probably on about $320k (plus or minus) for the next three years.
You need to sign a Lui to be able to afford a Papalli in your pack.

TPJ had at least 2 visits to both raiders and knights. Knights have the cash advantage but if we want him we can get him I believe.

How can we not have cash for TPJ, Boyd left not because we didn't have money but because the Raiders weren't prepared to pay what he was asking.

Lui has done well this year, Guler looks the goods.
Cotric will be even better next year, and I feel Pommie Bateman will do very well.
He has the advantage of having Whitehead and Hodgo here, as well as his mate Sutton, I think they will feed off each other.
Definitely need more from our halves and less dumb plays from BJ.

You don’t need a Lui, you need a player of his ilk on next to no money. If we’ve upgraded him that’s exactly why our cap is screwed.
If a baseline player requires an upgraded contract you move them on and find someone to do the job on lower money.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

The club just used the “not playing overs” excuse to cover up that they over estimated what the cap was going to be 2019 and it was very much welcome when other clubs came knocking for them. I disagree Matt, you keep cycling them through the system. Move them on and bring in another player looking for a start on minimum wage or close tooMatt wrote:Generally yes, but at the same time, anything 300K or less is fine for those fringe 17 players. Of which Lui should be.
