Wigan ace John Bateman on the radar of the Canberra Raiders

JOHN Bateman has his choice of three NRL sides to pick from should he decide to move to Australia. The England ace will be allowed to leave Wigan at the end of the season if he wants to head Down Under. The Newcastle Knights, Brisbane Broncos and Canberra Raiders have all made their interest known.

Bateman, who played at centre in the World Cup despite being a back-rower for Wigan, has connections at all three interested clubs.

Not sure how we fit him in.
I guess it adds to the Papa moving on theory

IMO to small for second row, not quick enough for centre.
Utility value yes, but we have Elliot for those times

He'd likely be played in the correct position if he was signed here instead of centre. Unless we lost papa I can't see it happening.

He's a backrower, not a centre. I could only see him coming if someone poached Papa off us. Massive downgrade though. He'd be nothing more than fringe 17 in the NRL.
