If true, he won't miss the entire season. He'll be back in July assuming a 7 month recovery

June-July would be very abnormal. Which isn’t the say it can’t be done, obviously there was a situation just last year where it happened

But I wouldn’t be pinning my hopes on that and nor should the club

Feels like the time i was given a redundancy on a Thursday afternoon and then was begged to stay on the Friday morning once their plans for the position fell through.

A few years ago I'd probably near cried at this news. But it's just become laughable (not the injury obviously) at how often we as Raiders fans are given a glimpse of hope for a short time to then be disappointed and let down for 4 or 5 times longer. Seriously, we are clinging to one good season in 2016 and probably will be for the next 2 years.

Without Hodgson, if our halves can't stand up and demand the ball and run the show, both of them should be shown the door. I truly think now that Williams and Sezer would be a better combo now we are without a dominant hooker.

NEL MINNIT it’s 2021 and Hodgson has played 12 games since signing his extension....

Next time they want to lock someone up long term can they make it 6 years just to see if they can avoid this

Where are you hearing that?

If that is the case we need to ask the English medical team a few hard questions

Did he do it the first instant or did he do his ACL because they kept him on?

He can leave camp now and get our guys onto it .....

I don't think England have anything to answer.

No need to write off our season just yet... geez!!!

I'll wait for the official confirmation, but it would be interesting to see how Sezer would go without Hodgo for an extended period

Interested why you’re so confident that England don’t have anything to answer for. If the injury is significant, I think it’s reasonable to ask the English medical team what happened.

Wow, we have terrible luck when it comes to signing players on long contracts. Looks like we will need to keep Baps and find a buyer for BJ. All this leads to a terrible 2018. Won't be too 8 material if it's true... Sigh

Gotta love those 5 year deals!.

Hey Josh, here's $3 million bucks! Now sit in the sideline and be a shadow of what you showed us 2 years ago.

I love the raiders
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

In hindsight, the English medical staff should of pulled him off and checked it.
A strain vs a blow out... And his "professional" rugby league team just jinxed themselves by signing him for 5 years... After a crap season for him too.
Sigh.
Could be a blessing in disguise for this squad, I've always rated Garvey, I hope Baptiste stays with a NEW backloaded contract.
Its up to the halves now to show the team around, have no idea what to do about the salary cap issue... Depends on bjs attitude.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Another five year flop, two weeks into the deal is a new record for Teflon Don though.

I'm going to wait till I hear it from the raiders and then panic

But the English medical team should be absolutely grilled by our Doc and physio

He goes down and is obviously struggling and gets assessed by the doctor and trainer on the field,
You can see him telling them it's not right but they say he stays on, he stays on and possibly does his acl

They still don't realise its an acl, instead put more tape on him than a 3 year old uses when wrapping a Christmas present and sit him on the bike and bench ready to use again

Curious to know if it had been a bronco player would Wayne have stepped in and pulled him off earlier

If we do lose him for most of the season AND if it was most likely caused by him playing on then we deserve compensation be it with the cap, financial or what ever

Soliola needs the tap. He can stay as water carrier , assistant coach, special teams - I don't care. But if anyone in the 17 from last year (that carries a decent chunk of cap) is surplus, it's Sia. Love him as a leader, but we have the stock to cover him as a player.

Sia knocked slater the **** out and deserves another season for that alone.
Tapine is excess to our needs, same as Bateman, but not going to save too much with the cap there...

Like campo and Hodgson on 5 year deals ? Future is performance now, wasn't Bronson Harrison our future at one stage ?? Geez, this jobs for the boys and long term deals may not be working as well as we thought.. Glad we have an "easy" draw for 2018

Canberra Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson out for nine months with knee injury
Steve Crawley

THE Canberra Raiders’ 2018 premiership hopes have been rocked with confirmation Josh Hodgson will be sidelined for up to nine months after suffering an ACL knee injury during England’s World Cup semi-final win.

Incredibly, under NRL guidelines, the Raiders will still have to carry the load of Hodgson’s salary on their cap for next season. This basically equates to a $1 million blow for the club on the cap.

Appears the Raiders unhappy with the circumstances of the injury... and the fitness of players who were in the Samoan camp.
