This might have been raised elsewhere and I've missed it but does anyone reckon Taylor is not being picked to keep his price down on the second-year option? Pretty sure the deadline is May. A firing Taylor would be worth $200K more than an unproven one. Just a thought.

That would not be supported by me.

It's hard to get a real read on it because he HAS had an ankle injury but if there is a real reason he's being held back, I hope it's a genuine attempt to ease him back into the NRL. That Sticky is holding his nerve with the temptation to play Taylor in the earlier stages of the season for hopefully a better payout at the business end.

Yeah, I reckon you're right, EJ. Just letting my post-loss mood construct conspiracies. I should have more faith (even though the conspiracy theory would result in a better squad next year and has only been a problem tonight as we won the previous three so isn't too bad really).

No, he's been injured and only played 15 minutes for a few weeks.

I dont think Clydesdale is that bad. I suppose Turner offers a bit more versatility. Who is actually playing well for Mounties?

Agree on the rest of the changes though.

Yep. Lacking that impact off the bench right now. Defenses are keying on Paulo and Boyd knowing they get a reprieve when thise guys spell. Taylor coming on keeps the grunt.

I don't think any of us really know if Taylor is fit enough to be playing NRL yet. Clearly Lui isn't an option that inspires confidence so there must be a clear reason Stuart is holding Taylor back, perhaps to do with that ankle problem

So is Turner actually playing good footy or are people swapping Clydesdale out because we've had a loss so we better punt as many sacrificial lambs as possible to shake things up?

I haven't posted much on here over the past 12 or so months but when I have it has often been to express the importance of the job Baptiste does. We're seeing it now. I'd love to see where we'd be on the ladder if he had of played every game this season, i'm happy to suggest that his energy and play is that vital that we'd be at least 4 points better off considering the tight games we've been in.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.

Clydesdale has played about 20 minutes in 8 weeks, so I think people just see him as a wasted spot.

I agree, he's a super little player. But it would be very unwise not to address our issues in closing out close games and just assume we'll be awesome again when Baptiste returns to save us.

Taylor for Liu.... Sia starting lock and Tapine back to bench. Pretty sure Priest is out for another week at least.

I think he is fine .. he was involved in pregame warmup and seemed to be running freely albeit his ankle was strapped and he was seen on the captains run pics.

Will be interesting to see if he gets a run in Mounties this weekend.

As I've said before I don't know what Stuart sees in Lui

Hmmm, not sure, maybe he's trying to get Taylor as much game time in mounties to get him as hungry as possible.

I don't know if Manly's ploy of niggling us and slowing the game to shut down our outside backs is going to be an effective ploy against us in the long term - IMO all 4 of our outside backs, and particularly BJ and Rapana, are too good not to find a way to overcome it. But I suspect the Bulldogs and a few teams over the next little while will try to replicate it.

I'd like to see Ricky split Boyd and Paulo up.... I only think this can happen if Priest is in the side. So assuming he is available, I'd like to see:
1. Wighton
2. Cotric
3. Croker
4. Leilua
5. Rapana
6. Austin
7. Sezer
8. Priest
9. Hodgson
10. Boyd
11. Papalii
12. Whitehead
13. Soliola

14. Clydesdale / Turner
15. Taylor
16. Paulo
17. Tapine

I support moving Tapine and one of our big boppers back to the bench... right now there's a big gap between our first 13 and our next 4.

I had the same thought about Baptiste. Last night I found myself wishing he was there to run out and add that extra energy and zippiness when others were flagging. He might have got us over the line in the 3 very close games we have lost.

His biggest attributes are the huge energy he brings to the contest helping to swing the momentum in our favour, and his use of the forwards. Josh Hodgson is most definitely the most important player we have but Kurt gives the forwards faster, sharper and crisper passes for them to wind up on so when you combine that with the pace he plays and the energy we get with his injection, we're normally coming home each half with a wet sail.

Taylor and Priest are injured, aren't they? Not sure why people keep bringing them up as if Ricky is choosing to keep them out.

I'm really excited about this. This will be my first ever Raiders away game! I've never been to one before, but I will drive up on Saturday to see this!

Happy to see Lui replaced. Other than that I don't think team changes are required but a few of our forwards need to pull their fingers out. Only two of our starting forwards ran for more than 100 metres on the weekend. If that happens this week we'll lose by 20.

I agree, but the other way to solve this is to bring a big bopper onto the bench...

1. Wighton
2. Cotric
3. Croker
4. Leilua
5. Rapana
6. Austin
7. Sezer
8. Paulo
9. Hodgson
10. Boyd
11. Papalii
12. Whitehead
13. Soliola

14. Clydesdale
15. Taylor
16. Priest (Bateman if Priest still injured, not sure what happened to him actually)
17. Tapine

At the moment Sia and Tapine are out of sorts. Maybe a swap would do them good.

Bateman isn't at his best, still getting used to week in, week out FG imo or maybe he just reached his ceiling already.

DT on the bench gives us a player who can make a genuine impact and rattle some cages or get us a solid 10m even rucking off our goal line though sheer strength.
