Shaun Fensom signs with North Queensland Cowboys

Shaun Fensom set to join Cowboys

It is understood that Shaun Fensom is set to sign a 2-year deal with North Queensland Cowboys from 2017.

Fensom, 28, is set to end his 139 game playing career with the Canberra Raiders and make the move north.

All the best Shaun. Sad to see him leave, but the right move by Stuart. His role can be covered by a much cheaper player. Hopefully this allows us to address the depth issues in other areas.

Fenno may have been at the game, but I didn't see him anywhere, wasn't sitting with the other players in Bay D as far as I can remember. I'll be sad to see him leave, very sad.

Such a shame to see a stalwart like Fenno leave. He was the guy who could always hold his head up high when the club was struggling. Unfortunately our current roster does not have a spot for him in the top 17 and he's a top 17 NRL player.

Going to the Cowboys is interesting as Taumololo has the 13 cemented. This could see Fenno play more as part of their prop rotation, especially considering they have lost Tamou and Hannant.

Very sad to see him leave. He was made into the player he is to cover an ordinary team and is now suffering for it.

Far too good to be running around for the Mounties so it is good to see him heading somewhere he will hopefully get a start.

There's not many players who I feel deserve success with the raiders as much as he does, he was a stand out in the dark days.

There were times between say 2010-2014 Fensom was our man.

We were absolute battlers without him and when he played he gave his all and us some hope.

@pickles I can't really see him getting a start at the Cowboys, however. The fashions in the game seem to have made it difficult for him to get a starting spot.

Not at lock but I think he could play in the prop rotation. Not sure why he would be changing clubs to go somewhere he was unlikely to play when there would be other teams where he would be a walk up starter.

I really thought with the change of interchanges the game was really going to come further towards Fenno but it's seems to have done the opposite.

I don't see him as a prop and if he was we would have seen him in the 17 last year. He is a lock so cows would be an odd choice.

A team like the Warriors could really use his work rate and dedication .

Warriors have mannering and signed hoffman for that reason. They need a soliola who is a leader to the other polynesian players

How much of these players are we paying for that we are offloading, Vaughan, Fensom and talk of Lee going.

I'm not too sure this is a good thing considering they all have been signed this season.

Anyhoo, sad to see him go, it certainly won't be the same...a real shame.

Fensom can revive career at Cowboys: Tongue

FORMER Canberra Raiders skipper Alan Tongue has backed Shaun Fensom to revitalise his NRL career at the Cowboys should the club secure his signature.

"There’ll be plenty of people here (in Canberra), myself including to be sad to lose him but if you’re a Cowboys fan you’d be pretty excited," Tongue said. "Not only what he does on the footy field, but he’s a quality person and leader.
