Ricky Stuart interview:

Tonight's trial. We will give a lot of young guys an opportunity tonight to show what they've done in the off season. The team is ready to play footy.

Nick Cotric or Jordan Turner. Cotric has been very good in the off season. Last season we brought him into training one day a week, he was preparing with the older players all last year. He handled the off season very well. Big guy for an 18 year old.

Mounties trial and Dave Taylor. I went to that game, a cool change came through 15 minutes into the match. Dave Taylor went quite well. Won't be playing tonight. He hurt his ankle in the Mounties match, so I've pulled him out of tonight's game. It wouldn't be fair to him. I will keep David if his manager puts what we need in the contract. We will offer him a contract, but we will need some terms in the contract. I've seen some improvements in his game just last week. He's talented, but he needs to blend into what we need. Signs of that last weekend. He is only 27, he's a good person, the commitment and sacrifices he's made show he's serious about a comeback and we'll give him that opportunity.

Captain. A number of players have the ability to lead the team. Josh is a competitor, big part of how we've grown.

All Star game. You have no control over how long players play... he was coming back from injury? What do you think of the match? I don't believe in exhibition games in the pre season. I respect the reasons why we have these games, but I don't agree with them. Not the way to prepare for the season.

Ricky Stuart Golf Day coming up... great sponsors, we've been very fortunate as a Foundation. The next respite centre is about to be built, will take eight months to build.

Fires near Captain's Flat. I have family there, my heart goes out to those people who've lost their homes. Great to see a collection tonight for those familys.

Jarrod Croker interview:

Knee injury... The aim is to return in Round 4-5, hard to tell, still in the knee brace. I've managed to get a lot of swelling out of the knee with the rehab.

The first few days you have rehab, you put compression and ice on it, a machine on the quad to keep it firing, hopping to get single leg balance. I've never done it before, it happens at a young age if you are susceptible to it, so hopefully that's not the case. Important to get it right. Brace coming off on Monday.

Cotric or Turner? We'll find out a lot tonight. Turner has a lot of ESL experience, Cotric is raw and young and big.

No confirmation on Edrick Lee. But the big story is Shaun Fensom to the Cowboys. Not confirmed, but lots of talk in Townsville.

Interesting comment from Sticky on the Dave Taylor contract. It will have some behavioral clauses in it which Dave Taylor and his manager will have to agree to. It's been a while since we last publicly came out with such comments. (Todd Carney?) Probably some players have these 'clauses' but they have been kept private. If he does sign the press are going to want to know what they are. Transparency v Privacy.

Stop Press ---- I have the inside scoop on why David Taylor not playing tonight!!!!!

The Coal Train has been blocked from playing for the Raiders because of Greens MLA Shane Rattenbury's 100% renewable energy target for canberra.

Dave 'Coal Train' Taylor will be renamed the 'Ethanol Light Rail' and cleared to represent Canberra next fortnight.

Queanbeyan is so busy as a result of the trial that David Taylor was called in to pull beers for fans for pre drinks and the after party drinks

Let's be honest here, I doubt he was coming down here to be punted. It was a way to show the NRL of how he is turning his life around

:hmmm Doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Although the government subsidized TPAs will help a lot.

Fensom to NQ seems like a weird move. They have heaps of middles too.

Lolo to prop and Feno to lock maybe. Could just as easily be Lolo to prop, Lowe to lock, Coen Hess to start and feno in reserves. They do lack depth losing both Tamou and Hannant.

In exchange for? Maybe Mosby or another winger? Or do we need the cap?

That's right, Fensom doesn't know it yet but he will end up at Souths.

He'll trade to Townsville, turn up at training and ask for Dave. June 30 trade to Souths!
