Re: Josh Papalii charged with drink driving
God dam it... why are the AFP involved for a drink driving charge?
Re: Josh Papalii charged with drink driving
The AFP are the police force for the ACT.

Damn it, we had been having such a great run. While this may be minor in the grand scheme of things, I think to ensure our culture is not affected there should be an in squad punishment for this. I think it would send a very strong message to the team if Papa lost his leadership role, if only temporarily.

**** me dead, anyone know if there was an accident or if he was caught in RBT?

I wonder if this was after the team celebrations for Croker?
Re: Josh Papalii charged with drink driving
It's disappointing because he's coming off surgery but can't blame him for having a few at a mates birthday. This still pales in comparison to past off-season indiscretions though so it's not really a big deal.

Guess it depends if there was an accident and if he hurt anyone and how far over the limit he was as to how bad the punishment will be

Until we hear further details I don't think this sort of comment is what supporters and the club should tolerate.ultramikele wrote:Just a little slap on the wrist and back into it for papa... We all do silly things
I'm extremely dissappoined but hopeful / confident that, at the very least, his reading was just over the limit and was not the subject of another incident.

God friking dammit Papa, really? Really? All the problems over the years and somehow you still think this is a good idea? Why the hell does anyone ever think getting into the car after a few is a good idea?
To say I'm disappointed in him would be an understatement.

Well if it caused no harm to anyone I'm sure he will be fine, loss of licence for a while and a fine from the club and we are all sweet, hoping for the best scenario...Raidersfan wrote:Until we hear further details I don't think this sort of comment is what supporters and the club should tolerate.ultramikele wrote:Just a little slap on the wrist and back into it for papa... Fair dinkum...
Re: Josh Papalii charged with drink driving
I don't know what to think. Cat's brainwashed me into believing the Raiders were the Vienna boys choir off the field. This sort of thing only happens at Parramatta.

"Hoping for the best scenario" is the best I can make from your response. Stuart and the club are attempting to raise the bar in terms of off-field behaviour which will go a long way to changing the culture that existed at this club. Incidents such as this take us a step backwards.ultramikele wrote:Well if it caused no harm to anyone I'm sure he will be fine, loss of licence for a while and a fine from the club and we are all sweet, hoping for the best scenario...Raidersfan wrote:Until we hear further details I don't think this sort of comment is what supporters and the club should tolerate.ultramikele wrote:Just a little slap on the wrist and back into it for papa... There's a big difference between being half a schooner over the limit and being drunk off your ****.

I think that would be a fair bet.Coastalraider wrote:I wonder if this was after the team celebrations for Croker?
Pretty disappointing. Drink driving should be taken seriously by the NRL. Hoping it was a low grade offence only.

Not sure what point you are attempting to make mate. I think we can all conclude that Papalli wasn't stupid enough to being in the later category.Green eyed Mick wrote:There's a big difference between being half a schooner over the limit and being drunk off your ****.

Very disappointed. The thing that annoys me most is these guys earn great money and can easily afford a taxi

Hope the club comes down hard on him and stands him down from captaining the nines

It's weird because I saw his fiance comment on one of Blake Austin's post she was sober driving - I assumed this would've included driving Papa hoping it was just low range. Think he should miss out on 9s to.

Re: Josh Papalii charged with drink driving
Firstly I would hate to be at training tomorrow, reckon Ricky will have a few extras planned for the whole team
But I am a tad confused, the press statement says we are waiting for the AFP to finish their investigation.
Now disclaimer here, I don't drive but have watch highway patrol and RBT so I must be an expert
But don't you get pulled over , blow over and they charge you then and there ? What's there to investigate?
The bit I'm most proud of though is he was charged last night , we let the nrl know right away and didn't try and stall the media
Would be disappointed if he gets more than a small fine from the nrl

If this had happened at parra, they would give him captain and sweep it under the carpet AND blame Rickygergreg wrote:I don't know what to think. Cat's brainwashed me into believing the Raiders were the Vienna boys choir off the field. This sort of thing only happens at Parramatta.

Re: Josh Papalii charged with drink driving
The best approach I've heard to a matter such as this was from Willie Mason when he was arrested the morning after a few on the way to Knights training. He straight away fronted the media to apologise, said he was shocked and surprised he was over the limit but made no excuses and accepted he was in the wrong, amazingly he probably came out of it with a better public image.... however I'm not sure Papalii is charismatic enough to pull something like this off
