Canberra Raiders to play trial against Newcastle Knights at Seiffert Oval
The Canberra Raiders will play just one trial game before the 2017 season – against Newcastle at Seiffert Oval on February 18.
"We've got the 9s and the guys that aren't in the 9s may play in the second-grade trials," recruitment manager Peter Mulholland said.
"I don't think any NRL club needs more than the one trial. I think we've got our players really prepared. It's an arduous season and we've got a lot of players who will have played right through to the end of December.

Re: 2017 Trial V Knights: Teams and Game Day
Should really have a half time / full time margin as we'll probably blow them away first half and then put the reserve grade team on.
Although with only 1 trial maybe they won't do that this year.

Re: 2017 Trial V Knights: Teams and Game Day
We'll probably cycle through the fringe guys after 55-60 mins
If we're only having 1 trial we should be treating it like round 1 for the majority

Re: 2017 Trial V Knights: Teams and Game Day
Will it be streamed like last year?
Re: 2017 Trial V Knights: Teams and Game Day
I somehow doubt it... the Knights organised that last year... and it was unlikely to affect the crowd in Orange as it was a long way from Canberra and Newcastle.

2017 Trial V Knights: Teams and Game Day
Queanbeyan to host Raiders v Knights Trial Match
Raiders CEO Don Furner, Administrator of the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Tim Overall and Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart at Seiffert Oval today.
The Raiders will once again return to their spiritual home of Seiffert Oval in 2017, when they play the Newcastle Knights in a trial match on Saturday February 18.
The match will be the main pre-season showcase for the Raiders ahead of the 2017 season, with the match against the Knights the clubs only official NRL trial before the start of the season proper.
Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart and Raiders CEO Don Furner joined Administrator of the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Tim Overall at Seiffert Oval today to officially launch the trial, which is scheduled for a 6.30pm kick-off on February 18.
Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart said taking the game back to the Raiders traditional home was exciting and the club was looking forward to it.
“It’s a privilege for us to be able to come back to our roots here. There’s been a lot of history and great traditions set at this ground for many, many years,” Stuart said. “I know all the players are looking forward to coming to play here. I think we will get a big crowd here with the interest in the game so high.”
Administrator of the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Tim overall said the game would draw interest from right across the region and they were hoping for a bumper crowd at the updated venue.
“It’s very exciting for the whole region. It’s back to Seiffert for the second time. Weather permitting, I would hope we would get over 10,000 here for the game,” Mr Overall said. “We have done lots of improvement, all the catering areas are now first class, the fencing has been replaced around the field and the new irrigation system allows the surface to be in great condition. It’s looking terrific.”
The first tickets for the event will go on sale at the Queanbeyan Gift Street Party on Saturday 26th November 2016, which will be available at the Raiders marquee.
Tickets will then be available at the below outlets from Monday 28th November:
· Queanbeyan City Council Customer Service Centre
· Queanbeyan Leagues Club
· Raiders Gungahlin
· Raiders Weston
· Raiders Belconnen
· The Mawson Club
· Queanbeyan Kangaroo’s Leagues Club
· Jersey’s Megastore, Fyshwick
· Raiders HQ, Bruce
Pre-purchase tickets for all patrons will be $15 for adults and $7.50 for juniors (16 years or under), with NRL club members receiving the same price at gate on the night (must show valid 2017 membership card).
Non-club members can purchase tickets on game day for $20 (Adults) and $10 (Junior).

No, 6:30pm was the advertised time last time. I could barely see what was happening in the second half it was so dark.-GD- wrote:Are they starting this one earlier than last time?Bullraider wrote:I hope they fix the lights at the ground. Rapana and Leilua to be fit for trial
Canberra stars Joey Leilua and Jordan Rapana will put pre-season injury concerns behind them and will be available for the Raiders’ one and only trial against Newcastle next week.
Leilua was a late scratching from the World All Stars side due to a niggling groin issue, but is confident of being right for the Knights’ visit to Queanbeyan on February 18.
“The groin flared up a bit at training last week and the coaches asked me how I was. I said I wasn’t 100 per cent and I sat out a bit of training,” Leilua says.

They'll probably get a quarter each, rotate through those two, Naden and maybe Ed inside and Aioni (sp?) on the wing?? I presume it'll be played in quarters cause of the heat
