Difference is charisma and influence. Carney and dugan were young, canberra products and saw themselves as unsackable by the club. This lead other young guys to think thats how it was and older guys to have the **** because thats not how it should be. Taylors an older guy who isnt someone people really want to follow. Hes on a training contract. Everyone in the squad sees that and knows he has to work hard for a contract.

I'd like to think that the players would know better than to listen to Dave. He'd be on very thin ice.

Yes Dave is on thin ice but probably more likely to blow his last chance.

This could be a great signing by Stuart. Nothing to lose and everything to gain if Taylor has turned himself around.

There will be no doubt we will be affected by origin next year with Boyd, Papalii and possibly Leulai and Croker and Austin affected so to have someone like Taylor who can play most positions in the forwards and possibly in the centres would help keep any momentum we might have during origin time.

I have a good feeling about Dave Taylor, just like I did with BJ, I think he could be the buy of the season and difference in winning a premiership.
I just have faith Sticky will get him right.

Gold Coast Titan David Shillington says Dave Taylor is potential NRL buy of season

Gold Coast Titans prop David Shillington says the Green Machine had the personnel to revive Dave Taylor's career.

"Dave, everybody knows he's an exceptional talent, natural talent. I've watched him at State of Origin camps potting field goals from 40 metres out on the sideline, just seriously ridiculous skills on him.

"He's only on a temporary contract so he's going to have to fight for his spot, fight for a new deal, he'll be desperate. I can see a signing like this potentially being the signing of the year if it goes the way Ricky will be thinking it will go."

Blake Austin says Canberra Raiders leaders can set Dave Taylor on right path

The wealth of leaders throughout the Canberra forward pack can set Dave Taylor on the path to NRL success, according to club five-eighth Blake Austin.

"We've certainly got the leaders down there that can have him on the right track and I reckon he could make a good fist of it for sure," Austin said.

"I'm not too far around [the thinking behind his offer] but I've definitely marked Dave Taylor in the past as a young kid coming through and they’re some of the scariest moments of my NRL career. I think he'd be great to add to our squad."

I love it. The guy could be bitter but he's only got positive things to say about the club. The journo said Boyd was "in contention" for the Blues now he's played for Australia - which makes no sense unless you think about previous NSW selections. But Shillo was backing him in.

Angling for a return?
