Re: Gallen attacks Canberra and Raiders fans
Y'know for a while there I almost respected Gallen a bit. Tough nut, tough player, cleaning up his grub act. Nope. He's taken a left turn down the highway of stupid.
These are the moments that only increase my pride in our no-nonsense, but no-whinging, respectful skipper. Croker would never venture to say anything as remotely as disrespectful as this.
I'd say thank goodness he's no longer the Blues captain but I have zero faith in Daley to do the right thing next year.

I don't take it personally but I think he's a **** and will call him out on it at every possible opportunity. How can a grub who tried to rip stitches out of another players head complain about dog shots?Peter wrote:Lol why do people take it so personally? Keep it as ammo and use it in the Grand final or next year when he comes to Canberra! Like him or hate him, he along with Thaiday are two of the only players in the NRL who don't trot out the same old cliches in interviews and say what they really think. It's good old fashioned banter between opposition player and fans. What Ennis did was more disrespectful than what Gallen said.
He's a bully a sook and a ****. All day, everyday!

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

These guys drink too much of their own bathwater.
They become complete parodies of themselves.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

I'm praying Loz was just towing the company line, I'd like to think he's got some balls like he had on the field and makes the right calls. Gallen whinged he's way to surround himself in overrated grubs. Now it's over to Loz # goodoldboy.raiderskater wrote:Y'know for a while there I almost respected Gallen a bit. Other than the obvious reaction from our fans, what was he trying to achieve though? If it was purely for a reaction, that doesn't really justify it though, does it?Pigman wrote:He's got the desired reaction hasn't he?

Re: Gallen attacks Canberra and Raiders fans
Take it as a compliment. Gal has a history of lashing out at players and sides he's afraid of. Beale wasn't a master stroke. The Sharks didn't beat us. They got the victory courtesy of Hodgson's injury and Matt Chechin's predictable inconsistency in the ruck.
Re: Gallen attacks Canberra and Raiders fans
For the most part I just think he's trying to get a reaction from a fan base and team he doesn't like.Raider Azz wrote:Other than the obvious reaction from our fans, what was he trying to achieve though? If there is another motive, I'd say what he's trying to achieve is to justify his mates actions post game and stop the criticism of him by trying to paint this as a players disrespect of a crowd as a direct result of that crowds disrespect of the players

Fair call, trying to draw away the criticism of his players makes sense. I just think it says a lot about him as a player and captain.Pigman wrote:For the most part I just think he's trying to get a reaction from a fan base and team he doesn't like.Raider Azz wrote:Other than the obvious reaction from our fans, what was he trying to achieve though? i also think the reason they won was because we lost Hodgson and we lost a bit of direction. Playing in finals games with lack of experience was also a factor.
RR's turn your back is a great idea me thinks.

Re: Gallen attacks Canberra and Raiders fans
It annoys me when people go on about needing characters in the game when defending Gallen and Ennis.
It's not being a character or a good promoter for the game by mocking or abusing opposition rugby league fans. Plenty of better ways to be a character or an interesting person for the game.
