Blake Austin set to return by next week
So.... With Austin injured does that mean we won't be winning the GF any time soon? I really can't see Williams stepping up enough.... Even if Austin hasn't been on fire he hasn't been bad, Williams has the chance to be bad... Constantly...

Also, this would hurt the Mounties I guess so at very least the season has taken a big dive for someone...

Re: Austin injury = Season over?
Well, technically the season won't be over for another 4 weeks for us. So no, Austin being injured doesn't mean the season is over.
Re: Austin injury = Season over?
No matter what team, you'd not be confident of winning a premiership without your first string halves.
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

I think we're fine. Sammy has a lot of experience for a backup half. It's not the huge crisis that the shock of losing Austin is making it seem.
Re: Austin injury = Season over?
Just need to get through the Sharks in week 1, and hopefully get him back for a prelim in wk3
Season definitely not over
Season definitely not over

Re: Austin injury = Season over?
Hopefully we can still jag the next 2 and get a home semi Week 1 as well.
It'll be dejavu getting a home semi against the Sharks with Williams in the halves!

Re: Austin injury = Season over?
It definitely takes a little bit out in terms of the individual stuff Austin can do - but the way this team is balanced and the manner in which strike players move around the field to attack weaknesses in the defence gives us potency across the park, irrespective of the halves attacking play. I think Sam will slot in nicely and get the job done. He has a good kicking game and also gives us a decent field goal chance if needed. We'll miss Blake, but the team is more than equipped to handle this.
Re: Austin injury = Season over?
It's not confirmed for the year is it? Our players tend to make quick recoveries these days.
Regardless Sammy will do a job. We will miss Blakes clutch play in the semis though.

I think it's pretty obvious that's exactly what he's implying, Luffto.Luffto wrote:Are you implying EDITedwahu wrote:It's not confirmed for the year is it? Our players tend to make quick recoveries these days.

No, Ricky has just stepped up his smokescreen game.Luffto wrote:Are you implying EDITedwahu wrote:It's not confirmed for the year is it? Our players tend to make quick recoveries these days.
Re: Austin injury = Season over?
I'm hopeful he's just being rested the next two weeks, and 1st week of the finals he makes a miraculous recovery and it turns out he was never injured after all.

I'm as much worried about the immediate future as the long term future for Austin. He's had a few injuries of late and hammy' are not a good sign at his age.
I don't post facts
Re: Austin injury = Season over?
It's been a tough year for him for sure.

Re: Austin injury = Season over?
At worst I reckon he would be available 2nd week of finals if we don't get through the 1st week.
Sezer had a fractured cheekbone, which is far more serious, and was back in 4 weeks from what I can recall.
Rest up Blakey and be raring to go come finals time!!

Season over?
Far out Ultima I am glad you arent the coach.
Ulimta: How's your arm feeling Sam?
Williams: It's fine Coach!
Ultima: Great! Run this over to the ref, we forfeit!
We play two teams in the next fews weeks that are way more depleted than we are and out of contention. Regardless of that we have a top four spot locked in and Williams is probably the best back up in the league.
Austin appears busted of late, so whilst unfortunate at least he can get over the other niggles.
Ps If it was Hodgson I'd probably be waving the white flag.

Re: Austin injury = Season over?
I feel for Austin, he's been instrumental in our clubs turn around on and off the field and it would be a shame for him to miss his first finals series as a Raider.
Re: Austin injury = Season over?
Has Austin even had scans yet? Has media blown this out of proportion?
praying it might be only a 2 week injury, nothing a bit of strapping cant fix

Nup. Season is still under.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.

I guess with Sam on our right edge, teams will definitely be going there more often now. If Sam has a weakness, I guess it's his defence!!!
