From Facebook:
Please be aware that GIO Stadium will be implementing new security measures upon entry into the venue for all future events, similar to other venues. The measures include increased bag searches and metal detection at entry points. GIO Stadium kindly asks that patrons allow for extra time when entering the venue for all future events. We thank you for your cooperation and please be aware that failure to comply will result in entry being refused as per our terms and conditions.

They didn't let me bring Maccas in the other week. Maccas is a Raiders sponsor, it should be encouraged.

No packaged outside food
So if you wanted maccas youd need to pack it in a lunch box

I wonder what's brought on the new increased security measures. Think we only have one crazy Serb in Schifty and he's been on his best behaviour for years.

Dont delete this GE
Re: Security upgrade at Canberra Stadium
I wonder if it is some reaction to the bloke that ran on after the Titans game and then jumped back over the fence with his mate preventing security grabbing him. I reckon they're still chasing that bloke.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.
Re: Security upgrade at Canberra Stadium
It will be a reaction to what happened in Paris with the bombs Outside the Stade de France.
A number of other venues are doing it.

not like its a keith urban concert at GIO- but wait its coming

Can't quite see how a metal detector would have prevented this. Unless they had chased him with it a beat him over the head!!!Woodgers wrote:I wonder if it is some reaction to the bloke that ran on after the Titans game and then jumped back over the fence with his mate preventing security grabbing him. For what it's worth he got absolutely annihilated by security when he turned back around under the Eastern stand.Bay53 wrote:Can't quite see how a metal detector would have prevented this. Freign train, that's something that someone who needs more than just a metal detector check would say.Schifty wrote:Disgraceful lies to try hault a political campaign with freign train like momentum.CJ42 wrote:Exactly who we should be blaming for this too.bonehead wrote:Damn Schifty

I hope this doesn't mean they will stop me from bringing my drum through the gates.
They've denied me entry many times before despite the club encouraging my presence with it.

I would say it seems pretty clear they won't let it in, Arnie.

Re: Security upgrade at Canberra Stadium
why??
If you have a problem I would go to the members window, entry and just talk to them
I get the feeling its more about preventing illegal or dangerous stuff in thus the metal detectors

Re: Security upgrade at Canberra Stadium
I remember there used to be a bass drum at raiders games about 3-4 years ago but haven't heard it since. I don't know if it was you, but it was awesome (maybe cos I'm a drummer). More broadly it helped build the atmosphere as raiders (or perhaps league) fans are generally quiet. Bring back the drum!Arnie wrote:I hope this doesn't mean they will stop me from bringing my drum through the gates.

If this security measure is about terrorism then drums should be allowed

My cover is blown, not just a coincidence that I'm not around every time you get checked.Schifty wrote:Says the person with a 20+ years association with me...CJ42 wrote:Freign train, that's something that someone who needs more than just a metal detector check would say.Schifty wrote:Disgraceful lies to try hault a political campaign with freign train like momentum.CJ42 wrote:Exactly who we should be blaming for this too.bonehead wrote:Damn Schifty

Drums are the absolute worst. Just cheer the team!Arnie wrote:I hope this doesn't mean they will stop me from bringing my drum through the gates.

That's the problem, raiders fans are generally quiet = we need the drums!greeneyed wrote:Drums are the absolute worst. Just cheer the team!Arnie wrote:I hope this doesn't mean they will stop me from bringing my drum through the gates.

Re: Security upgrade at Canberra Stadium
They're not quiet at all, provided the team gives them something to cheer. Drums are the most intensely annoying thing at a football game. It is a poor cover for lack of genuine atmosphere.Shano wrote:That's the problem, raiders fans are generally quiet = we need the drums!greeneyed wrote:Drums are the absolute worst. we are often out cheered by opposition teams, particularly Sydney teams. Anything to build atmosphere has to be good

The drum is great! Adds atmosphere and gets the team going.
