Thanks for your service and effort for the raiders Dane. Always a friendly guy and he gave 100 % for our club.
Good luck in the ESL. You'll do well over there and prolong your career in the process.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Dane Tilse to leave Canberra Raiders for Hull Kingston Rovers
The Canberra Raiders will release Dane Tilse to join Hull Kingston Rovers in the UK Super League this month, but only after the veteran prop helps them ride through an injury crisis to their front-row stocks.

Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
I guess it's a good outcome for everyone (if true).
Whilst I was never a huge fan, I also never hated the guy. I guess I just didn't like seeing him in my football team over so many years, particularly as he got older and slower and the game got faster. He deserves credit for having such a long career in such a demanding sport.
Good luck in the UK, and well done to Ricky for making another tough decision.

QFT. Now if he could only roster manage a decent coach in I'd be over the moonThe Nickman wrote:If this is true and Shillo also never plays another game in green, Sticky had completely wiped out the "Big 4" in less than two seasons

Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
Interesting comments for Tilse.
"looking to go over there next yr anyway" - hang on, you have a 2 yr contract here, which you only signed last yr?!?!
"interchange sounds like its going down to 6", "ruck interpretation", "faster" - all pointing to him feeling too slow already.
"lots of competition for spots here already" - sounds like he might have been given 'the tap'. That dropping for game 200, is looking more suspicious.

So now we're pushing a bloke off 6 months after he was re-signed? That's just bad business.
Anyways, he was a good player for us for a long time. I wish him all the best.

Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
I wonder who is footing the bill??? Are KR that desperate that they have taken the lot? OR are we that desperate to get rid of him? Surely this is because Ricky has an 'Ace' up his sleeve... say Tamou?Pigman wrote:So now we're pushing a bloke off 6 months after he was re-signed? That's just bad business.

Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
I still remember years ago at snake gully cup in gundagai, the raiders players were there and tilsey first bludged a winnie gold off me and later at a local pub i drunkenly abused him after i read an article about TLL and his new baby with his partner and pi $$ed thought the article was about tilsey, i was pretty mean to the bloke and he didnt get fired up at all.
Bit of a worry there really

Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
Not too sure if it was prompted by the club - sounds more like it was Tilse's decision based on being approached by Hull KR after Weyman's early-mid-season retirement (I also wouldn't be surprised if Campo put in a word or two to both Tilse and Hull KR).Pigman wrote:So now we're pushing a bloke off 6 months after he was re-signed? Anyways, sounds like it's all good for both parties and I'm glad someone who's been with us for 10yrs can go on his own terms and on good terms with the club. It's sad that we can't say that its always like that for players who's been with us for so long.
I wish Tilse and his family all the best over in England and thanks for all the hard work during his time playing for our proud club.

Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
If I was to have a bet, I'd say Tilse was advised that he will only be selected in certain games in which the coaching staff think he will add value.Pigman wrote:So now we're pushing a bloke off 6 months after he was re-signed? That's just bad business.

The game for which he was dropped tells me the coaching staff didn't believe he would add value against the particular team, and I dare say there'd be similar instances in future.
Id therefore wager that Tilse sought opportunities elsewhere at which he would be selected each and every game.
I think this is a win for both parties.

Id have a sneaky bet that Campo got in his clubs ear.
I think this may have been initiated by HullKR and Tilse's management

There is no need to be rude .
200 games for the club. 200+ FG games.
That is a good achievement any way you look at it

Big respect to Dane tilse, very happy he seemed to go out on his own terms and it was handled well for the big guy. Been a solid addition to our team for many games love him or hate him he deserves some respect
Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
I think Tilse had a good back end of last season and has had his good runs though out his time here, good luck in the esl Tilsey!
Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR

Yep, dont see em turning up to the games though. Not to be THAT guy but seriously just having the common decency to just say thanks mate good luck. Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
The guy has bled green for as long time. He is unpredictable in regards to off loads so much so that fans around me always scream "HOLD THE BALL TILSEY!" but still gave it his all. Good luck big guy!
Re: Tilse to depart Raiders for Hull KR
Heh, this reminds me of those really vague teasers advertising companies use sometimes to build hype. Can just imagine a heap of these posters printed up all around the place with things like "A new PAGE in Raiders History is on its way" "PAGE-ING all Raiders fans the wait is almost over".Deadly EdLee wrote:Page is coming soon.
You do have to wonder though, Tilse being signed by another club mid season does open up a spot in our top 25 doesn't it (My salary cap knowledge is a bit rusty here)?
