Mark Asbock and Odell Manuel are candidates in addition to my earlier nomination of Greg Wolfgramm.

I still remember Purtell scoring the winning try against us at Penrith.

If anyone can, it's the Raiders.

Only thing we have won in first grade the past twenty years.... Puts him in the top few players the Raiders have had this century.

At least Tyran Smith had aggro. He may have been overpaid and not superb, but far from the worst.

I have a short memory, but Matt Gafa was one of the biggest disappointments for me. Hearing of him killing premier league, and then stepping up to nuffie was a shock.

For mine it's Orford then daylight second. Could fill a spreadsheet with a long list of other names that were bog average ploders.

Yeah, me too. I couldn't wait for him to play A-Grade, and then what??

Royston Lightning was similar too.

What taints my memory as well is some players who have attracted criticism or just simply been forgotten actually played some cracking games at times, or at the very least did some utterly remarkable things on the field; as such, I find it hard to be cruel and nominate any/many as "worst" raiders.
Even Howell with his miracle try, Frawley with a chase to save a try, Drew with a few good chips, Chalk with a miracle catch, Purts with intercepts, hell- even some of the Tyran Smith one-handed magic offloads.
And so again I come back to Orford. He did nothing, offered nothing, was unfit, looked ridiculously oversized for just about any sport you can name, lacked his previous range of skills such as passing, and cost us a game that a rookie would struggle to do. Aaaaaaaand pocketed a nice wage for his half dozen appearance.
Truly awful.

McCrone is not only the worst Raider to play 100+ games, but possibly the worst footballer to play 100+ games. I GUARANTEE that he is the worst to play 100+ games with the same club (and I include the mid-to-late 90's incarnations of Balmain and Western Suburbs in this discussion).
I reckon if mccrone had a joint or a few grogs before a game he'd go alright. His brain goes a million miles an hour

Most of these guys tried their guts out but were never that good; it was a great achievement for them to make the top grade in the first place and while they didn't perform consistently at the top level you shouldn't begrudge them having a go.

My vote for "worst Raider ever" goes to Dugan. He was blessed with all of the natural ability and instinct a footballer could ever want, but is human EDIT. Never before or since has anyone shown such complete contempt for the club or its fans.

He also has the honour of being the only player I've ever heard of trying to intentionally throw a game. There are ploders, there are out-and-out bad players, and there is Josh Dugan. He is my worst Raider ever.

Yep. This is why Dugan will always be the worst, because he intentionally jobbed it.

Some of you guys are way harsh. Purtell was rubbish no doubt, but nowhere near the worst. For mine, Brett Kelly and David Howell are two of the worst I can think of. For the record, Jason Williams wasn't anywhere near the worst, the cannonball!! He ran hard and bent the line, more than you can say for our current forwards.

I endorse Geoff Macnamara in this list. He was an occasional fill-in PE teacher at my school and was a complete jerk.

Hey leave Bruce Mamando out of it, grew up with him top bloke and junior heavy weight champ, one of the few guys who would've probably taken Furner down in the ring, had potential and it was a hard forward pack to get into, would gladly have him ahead of Tilse and White.

No way was Howell in the worst three. And no way in hell Albert Fulavai would be anywhere near the worst 17! The guy made a few errors but held his own when required (by promotion to the team through injury to others) in a team where just about every player in the starting line up was representing either their state or country. Bulgarelli made a very costly mistake moments after being concussed. Again a bad choice.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Gafa wasn't that bad.

For me
Howell
Wolfgramm
Turner - deadset by the time he was at the raiders he was good for a try a week - for the other team.

I dare say tupou might make the list if he keeps getting picked.
