2012 Fans' Choice Player of the Year

The Fans' Choice Player of the Year has been awarded since 2004 with an impressive roll call of winners, including Ruben Wiki, Jason Smith, Alan Tongue, Terry Campese, Josh Dugan and in 2011, Shaun Fensom. An individual trophy, sponsored by The Greenhouse, is presented to the winning player at season's end.

We have built a great tradition with this award at The GH, and you can be part of it!

Who will be the winner in 2012? It is you who will decide!

In the Fans' Choice Player of the Year, you can register your votes here for the top performed Raiders player, on a 3-2-1 basis. The rules are you can only allocate 6 points or less each round, and can split them any way you like, but no "half" points are permitted and no player can be awarded more than 3 points.

So, you can give the best player 3 points, the second best 2 and the third best 1, in the traditional way. Or you can give two players 3 points each. Or you can give 3 players 2 points each etc. No half points are permitted.

At sometime after Tuesday, all the points awarded by everyone to each player each round will be aggregated and then the top three players will be awarded 3, 2, 1 points.

Only votes made by Raiders fans in this thread on The Greenhouse will count.

In this thread, feel free to speculate on who will be the player of the round prior to the match.

But 3-2-1 votes can only be made AFTER completion of the match in this thread.

Don't hold back, if you think he didn't do much just say it. I personally think he didn't do anything wrong, but did a number of things very right today.

Really hard to pick this week. So, im going to sit on the fence a bit and spread it around.

1 - Berrigan - With Williams out he played out of his skin. I think he had a hand in 3 trys and scored one himself.
1 - Pelo - He isnt going to win you anything, but he is a solid little, no frills, no errors type player. 144m, essentially, as Duges replacement (I know RR went to FB, but he was included for Duges being OUT).
1 - RR - Another good game at FB. With those 2 try, he equals Croker for the top try scorer at the club this year at 16, although Croker prob'ly should have got one himself.
1 - Fergie - A quite-ish 1st half, but really lifted in the 2nd.
1 - Shillo - he keeps rolling on. The lift in his game is a massive reason for us going so well.
1 - Big Papa. Another massive effort from our young Kiwi Inforcer. Made a lot of the guys ahead of him in the Kiwi rep team look avg.

Granted, but not my point.

Some might even say that it should have been won in the first half with a better defensive display. A feature of our recent form has been our goal line and scrambling defence which all went out the window in the first half today. I put Ferguson at fault for three tries against us plus at least two other errors. Three less tries to chase and the second half heroics wouldn't have been necessary. Credit to him for his excellent second half, but for mine not enough to be a contender to feature in the points. Just my opinion.

True. I did wonder about that after I'd done it, but ah well. The difference is that Waddell didn't have an awful first half and I thought he was a bit of a key to the momentum shift.
