Canberra Raiders V Canterbury Bulldogs
Friday August 24, 7:30pm
Canberra Stadium
TV: Channel 9 and WIN delayed, Fox Sports delayed
#NRLCANCBY
In Round 25, the Raiders have a rare home Friday night match - against the top of the table Bulldogs. It won't be live on TV anywhere, so The Greenhouse will be the place to be to discuss the game! Over the past 10 games between the two clubs, the Raiders have won just four matches. Head to head overall, the Raiders have also won just 25 of 60 matches since 1982. However the Raiders won the last match in the national capital, in May 2011. The Bulldogs have not lost since Round 10 of 2012, a twelve game winning streak. The Dogs have just come off a 23-22 golden point win, and it would be an against the odds victory for Canberra if they can win.
So who would you select in the Canberra Raiders squad for the match? Tell us here and see how your squad lines up against the official team when announced on Tuesday. We'll have the official team, when available, in the first post of this thread. Plus all the previews for the Round 25 match.

The media keeps talking about the Bulldogs having to lose a game. Let's hope the Dogs start listening and make it next weekend.

Some Tigers fans were suggesting the Bulldogs would throw the game against us because everyone would be scared of playing Wests in the finals.green94 wrote:if we beat the dogs and i reckon we will i can imagine the headlines in the paper. Now the question is will we have the "A team - Gus and rabs slide into dementia" or the "B team- the world revolves around the Broncos" commentary?

Definately the B team and it will be a Barba wankfest all night because they won't be able to name our players.rolhai wrote:Now the question is will we have the "A team - Gus and rabs slide into dementia" or the "B team- the world revolves around the Broncos" commentary?

Does Rabs leave Sydney for Rugby League anymore? I hope we have Andrew Voss. He is better than Hadley or Ray Warren.rolhai wrote:Now the question is will we have the "A team - Gus and rabs slide into dementia" or the "B team- the world revolves around the Broncos" commentary?

The other game (live) has the Broncos in it so what are channel 9 to do? Give the B team their nightly wankfest over the amazing Broncos or shaft them so the A team get their prime time position pottering on about crap no-one cares about... God, where is vossy when you need him? I really want to see 9 loose the rights so badly.

Same team as the Roosters game. If TLL is to come in it should be for Mataora, I like him but I think Nicholls is more reliable.
Re: 2012 Rd 25 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
Was sitting infront of TLL during the game, he said he's ready to go against dogs I think Nicholls played better then Mataora tonight but mataora has been good, who knows, I think Thompson is injured so maybe just straight swap TLL for Thompson and have nicholls and picker rotate in 2nd row.

Re: 2012 Rd 25 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
Well another 2pts and now into the 8, prob'ly 9th on pts diff.
Id pick the same squad that took the field tonight. Thought Buttriss was very lively earlier, what a way to comeback from injury. I would assume that Lahrs will come into contention for Friday night too.
My 17.
1. Dugan
2. Earl
3. Croker
4. Ferguson
5. Robinson
6. McCrone
7. Williams
8. Shillington
9. Buttriss
10. Tilse
11. Papalii
12. Thompson
13. Fensom
14. Berrigan
15. Picker
16. Nicholls/ Mataora - one of these 2 will be 18th man, I think it will be Sam.
17. Learoyd-Lahrs

Doggies due 4 a loss and hope we give it to them! Can just c the dogs running wild toward Williams croker all nite! Wish I could get to Canberra 4 this one
2012 Rd 25 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
We will need to take it up a notch to beat the Dogs. We created enough opportunities against the chooks to put them away but failed to convert enough of them into points. We will need a higher conversion rate.
I think we have the capacity to compete in what will be a high quality game. We seem to step it up against the tip teams anyway... Let's hope we can jag a win!!

Re: 2012 Rd 25 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
We need some out of the box selections if we are any chance of mixing it with the dogs. 1. Robbo, 6. Dugan, 7. Berro.
This place is woke.
2012 Rd 25 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
Driving down from Sydney for this. We need Robbo to be a lot more involved, he's wasted on the wing. Plus I don't think we can afford to have Sam Williams in the defensive line against the Dogs forwards.

Interesting to know what Robbo has shown in defence to justify a complete backline reshuffle on that basis RobbyM.
Williams has been pretty solid the past few rounds prior to the Roosters game, you'd basically shatter his confidence and any semblance of cohesion we are building to chop and change our entire backline after 3 straight wins.
Anyway, it's a moot point. Furner won't change a winning team.

Fair point. A straight up swap to bring in player returning from injury is hardly a complete reshuffle though.The_Nickman wrote:Except for dumping his hooker to Mounties on game day...Seiffert82 wrote:Interesting to know what Robbo has shown in defence to justify a complete backline reshuffle on that basis RobbyM.

But in the spirit of that comparison, if Furner puts Robbo at 5/8 and McCrone at halfback and our kicking game is better than diabolical and our fringe defence is suddenly rock solid then I'll give credit where it is due.

Bad news Kiwi Raider I checked and the game won't be live over here either. The one week where they don't show both games live had to be this one.
And heres hoping we have Andrew Voss and not that dribbler Hadley and the rest of the bronco cheersquad calling it.

Oh, please god, not Ray Hadley.
If anyone is questioning whether they should go to the game or not, the thought of Ray Hadley calling the game on TV should surely tip them towards forking out a few bucks and watch it live.

Shuffling the backline to move Williams out of the team again after he has been playing pretty good since he came back into the team is just a ridiculous idea.
