Canberra Raiders V Sydney Roosters
Saturday August 18, 5:30pm
Canberra Stadium
TV: Fox Sports
Radio: 2CC.net.au or abc.net.au
#NRLCANSYD

In Round 24, the Raiders return to Canberra Stadium with the season still alive, after a hard fought 20-10 win over the Panthers, for a meeting with the Sydney Roosters. Over the past 10 games between the two clubs, the Roosters have a slight advantage, winning six - and coming out on top 14-8 when the sides met in round three earlier in 2012. Head to head overall, the Roosters also have the advantage, with the tri-colours winning 30 of the 53 matches since 1982. It was 2008 when the Raiders last beat the Roosters at Canberra Stadium, with Sydney winning their last two clashes in the national capital. 2012 is not going well for the Roosters, however, with just one win and a draw in their last seven matches - and they are placed just above cellar dwellers, the Panthers and Eels. The Raiders have recorded five wins from their last seven, but it is another must win this week.

So who would you select in the Canberra Raiders squad for the match? Tell us here and see how your squad lines up against the official team when announced on Tuesday. We'll have the official team, when available, in the first post of this thread. Plus all the previews for the Round 24 match.

Don't see much of reason to change it all that much...

1. Dugan
2. Earl
3. Croker
4. Fergattack
5. Reecey
6. McCrone
7. Sammy Williams
8. Shillo
9. Waddell (although I think we looked better with Berro, I don't this Travis was THAT bad)
10. Tilse (definitely need at least two props)
11. Paps
12. JT
13. Fensom (still unsure of why he left the field??)

14. Berro (although I wouldn't care too much if he started)
15. Nicholls
16. Picker (play more minutes!!)
17. Matoara (definitely plays better in spurts off the bench)

Pickers form has improved immensely over the last few weeks and he does seem to be getting more minutes the last 2 weeks.

I see no reason to change other than new Dad Tilse back in for Kennedy

End of 2010 I'd guess. We won six in a row from memory- 8 from 9 to finish the season or something like that...

Pretty sure thats right, but Lahrs must come into contention too. DONT RUSH HIM BACK!!! If he isnt ready, he isnt ready. Would love to see him go head to head with Chooks inforcer and all round dirty (insert expletive), Warea-Hargreaves (please excuse the spelling).

Not sure TLL will be fit to go, but Tilse in for whoever will be a big bonus. Good to see Joey Picker hit a little bit of form too.

Hopefully Waddell and Williams can step up against the Roosters.

I doubt Papalii will play. He has carry overs and will probably get a charge.

He was reportedly training strongly this week and maybe could have played, but would have been underdone and would've risked injury. Should be fit for the Rorter$ game.

Do we put in Harrison for Papalii if he gets suspended? I heard Furner say on ABC radio Harrison picked up a slight injury but its sure of the extent.

Sounds promising. Those hammy injuries can be a real bastard though, so I'd hate for him to go in less than 100%.

We'll really need some decent grunt up front against the Roosters as they have some real units in that team.

Your right but I think he has some carry over points which may see him miss a week.

the way he lifted the arm and the elbow as well probably didn't make for the best viewing.

IMO he will be huge if we lose him, he is the only one with starch in our defensive line. I really hope he isn't suspended :P.

I actually think Waddell was decent today. The problem was we didn't have any ball down their end when he was on the field. His defence was great - he did A LOT of cleaning up around the ruck, including making a few tackles that really had to be made. His service was pretty crisp too. We certainly didn't score points when Berro was on due to the fluidity of our attack.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Picker had a great game and seems to me to be best utilised when playing lots of minutes...

Yeah I agree with this too. During the game a lot of people were saying he was playing crappy but he seemed to have plenty of energy. There was a lot of people death-riding the Raiders all game when I really didn't think their effort was THAT bad. Execution yes, attitude no. Attitude wins games.

Papali is a shocker , single handly kills our momentum and turns the game over to the opposition regulary. A dumb footy player , is not needed this week. Get harrison back in.

 The only cleaning up he was doing was of the 6 tackles he missed in 30 minutes of football.

Thankfully Furner was aware of this and benched him for the rest of the game.

If Papalii gets charged for that I will be amazed. He just ran through the line and braced himself for the contact. Absolutely nothing in it.

In all fairness, every single player missed a tackle and the average looked about 3-4 for the main tacklers. Panthers must have been covered in Grahams vaseline or something like that. I like Waddells defence for a little guy

what do they class as missed tackle.

I was watching the 1st half again and one occasion Travis shoulder charged the player , it stopped the player and 2 other tacklers finished the tackle but Travis wasnt one of them.

Another time he did miss the tackle but got up and made the tackle on the 2nd attempt. There wasnt any advantage the player was tackled almost on the same spot

That averages out to 16 missed tackles for 80 minutes of Footy... it was a weak effort across the board, but Travis led the charge.

Exactly. Travis's misses don't lead to breaks - if he misses he still slows them down and others finish the guy off. However, I noticed on a number of occasions that he made a lot of tackles after others had fallen off that would have led directly to line-breaks. He is a very good defender.

From memory he also pulled off a try saver as last line of defence on Gordon that would've given Penrith a 12-0 lead
