It'd be even better if Williams and McCrone changed places.

With Tonguey's retirement this opens the door for McCrone AND Williams to be fielded in our strongest side. As to who starts, both options have their benefits.

This is what I want but I think it's more likely that Harrison will be starting with Mataora 18th man.

Edit: forgot about Vidot.. Robinson will be right behind him though.

1. Dugan
2. Ferguson
3. Croker
4. Thompson
5. Robinson
6. Campese (C)
7. McCrone (I doubt Orford will be back and Williams will enjoy not having the week to week pressure of 1st grade
so that he can concentrate on developing his game and confidence. Consistency has been his main problem, which
isn't surprising considering his age).
8. White
9. Buttriss
10. Shillington
11. Papalii (if he makes NZ's Four Nations team, I expect the confidence and experience he gets from it to see him make
the starting 13)
12. Harrison
13. Fensom (Vice Captain)

14. Mick Picker assuming Furner sticks with his hooker rotation tactic, plus he provides cover for the halves
15. Learoyd-Lahrs (a genuine impact player off the bench)
16. Thurling (provides experience off the bench and can cover all of the forward roles bar hooker)
17. Tilse

I think Glen Buttriss will need to have a big off season/pre season getting himself prepared to play 80 minutes week in/week out. IMO that's whats best of the team, him playing 80.

The chances of Furner carrying four forwards on the bench and no McCrone are slim-to-none.

Think this has to be the team for 2012. I believe McCrone has something to offer to the side. Seeing Furner giving Picker a crack at hooker, I think McCrone will be next. Having two hookers in side is getting more common for most teams nowadays. McCrone can also cover for injuries.

Furner would probably keep Thompson in the centres and Harrison would be the 11 with Joe Picker on the bench. And also it will be a fight for wing spot for Vidot and Robinson

I like this side very much. Mick Picker is better defensively than Williams and I think Williams, just like Picker would benefit from a few lower grade matches. Mick Picker was very good for his first FG game and he was playing in a foreign position. I am confident that with practice Picker will make an effective impact hooker/half and the bonus is his ability to kick. I also think giving McCrone time at hooker will assist Williams transition into the number 7 jumper IF Williams continues to improve, although there is no certainty this will happen

Even a fully fit 34 yr old Orford is going to be a shadow of his 2008 self and I can't see even Furner being silly enough to waste precious time in the offseason developing gameplans and structures around an Orford and Campo combination.

Would like to see Vidot in the side and JT move into the backrow finally but with Furner at the helm I doubt it will happen.

If Furners still there, I dont care if the great Jesus Christ is playing five eigth for us, we'll still finish bottom 4.

With a new coach, id keep the majority of the same team, but with Mcrone at hooker and Williams and Campo in the halves.

Kermit, although Furner has been dissapointing for around about 70% of his career I have been watching a lot of games from 2010 of late to cure my depression, and I'm convinced we are a very different Football team with Campese in it and that we can succeed with Furner at the helm.

Also with Dugan running off Campo the pressure if off Dugan to come up with a special play almost all the time.

Do not get the McCrone at hooker, he is slow in his desicion making, passes poorly and is a ball runner... imo his best position is at centre where he doesn't have the pressure of the number 7 or 9, has shown he plays his best while running wider, his speed is his best asset and would be more effective than Thompson in using his winger.

Unless we get a quality centre in the offseason I would play him at 4 with Williams and Campo as our halves, Waddell has played well this year for Logan and has added a kicking game, should get another crack next year.

More the point that you've ignored facts to have a cry about Furner, with him coach we'll always be bottom four despite last year being an injury away from a semi against our bitches to qualify for the grand final.

You don't like Furner fine, but why make **** up which has already been proven incorrect

I'm saying that when we were on fire in 2010 it was all mainly Campo, he made a massive difference to the team and all those around him.

I'm not a convinced on Furner as coach by any means and the current situation we are in is just terrible and the fact we seem to be clueless at times and have no steel or structure about us and a poor attitude in defence makes me very nervous about the future under Dave, but i have accepted the reality is that Dave is here to stay and he is pretty much unsackable so we have no choice but to support him and trust the club know what they are doing, because no matter how much we bitch on a forum nothing will change.

But I think the club and some supporters are happy to write off this season because we were missing Campo, next season we are due for a good year so I'm hoping it will all fall into place.

If you were already convinced that a team with better personnel than the one that went close to a grand final last year has no chance next year and is destined for the bottom 4, why would you even bother? There's plenty of other things out there you can occupy your time with.

Rodman we are bog average, our run last year was on the back of a lucky streak to injuries to opposition teams.

I commented several times about my concerns how we won games last year with injuries to key players like Lockyer, Kimmorley and Prince, we managed to win all those games last year yet there was always a cloud over those victories.

My concern is that nothing has changed in 3 years and next year will be no different... last year's success was on the back of key opposition players getting injured and i feel this year is a reflection of where this team is realy at.

Unless we have an injection to our roster during the offseason, i think it will be a matter of whether the opposition falls over again as to whether we make the finals, as sad as it is to say.

It's pointless to debate this - the same people are making the same projections every day and nobody is going to be proven right until this time next. All I will say is that I think that 'nothing has changed in 3 years' is a ridiculous assertion, given that 3 years ago many of the players who are now key members of our side were only just coming into grade and last year we almost made a grand final in the second year of a mass rebuilding project. Need we go into the reasons why this year's side has been so different for the trillionth time?

For me the Raiders are a hobby. A hobby that I'm extremely passionate about, but a hobby nonetheless. If I thought the return of Campo and others would mean nothing and that we had no chance to do anything but be in the bottom 4 I'd find something else to do with my time.
