Matt Orford support thread
There have been numerous reports of abuse being hurled at Matty Orford before during and after games at Canberra stadium ever since his debut for the mighty green machine, and now with the shocking news that his car was vandalised by a Raiders Supporter after the Tigers game i thought it might be a good idea if we directed a bit of support towards the Ox to make it clear that not all raiders fans are like the imbeciles he has encountered so far.
I'm sure 99.9% of Raiders fans would never get involved in things like hurling abuse at one of our own players so this may be a good way for the rest of us to distance ourselves from this sort of behaviour and let Matt know that we are all behind him and want him to do well.
I for one am still very happy he's at the club and i hope the behaviour of some of these "supporters" hasn't made him second guess himself on his decision to pull on the lime green, I reckon he's shown some really nice touches and while i'm sure Matt would be the first to admit he's not in top form i'm confident he will start to show that soon and I wish him all the best for the rest of his career as a Raider!
This thread obviously isn't going to be much use if Orford doesn't get to read it and i certainly don't want him searching through the Grennhouse to find it with all the rubbish that gets posted here(not that it's all rubbish.... my posts are pretty good ) so i thought maybe Greeneyed could pass a printed version on to Ben Pollack when he passes on the "ask the raiders" questions in the next week or two. (once everybody has thrown there support behind Matt).
That Ok GE?

Yeah chin up Matty ya stocky little bugger, hopefully he finds some form soon.
Such as shame we are in this position, he and Campese would be a great combo imo.

Re: Matt Orford support thread
Matt, I'm so sorry that the side you have seen of Raiders supporters thus far is the ugly side, and that you have been scapegoated for the team's collective poor form. Most of us Raiders fans are decent people with a disturbing passion for lime green.
Chin up, as they say form is temporary but class is permanent (and might I add so is championess, if thats a word). I have every faith that soon you will be expertly leading around what looks like a champion team.

Hey Matty, was stoked when you joined the raiders and have no doubt that you will be a hugely beneficial player both on the field and in helping our young players develop. I am eagerly anticipating your break out game for the Raiders where you rip a team to shreds. No better place to do that than against your old club hey?

Good luck. IMO the season hinges on the next 3 weeks. 2 wins from the next 3 and there is light at the end of the tunnel. It has to start this week.
BTW has Matt Orford always worn shorts that look like they are 3 sizes to big. deadset they almost touch his knees.

Re: Matt Orford support thread
good idea, i am fully behind matty and all the team as a matter of fact, bit of poor form wont stop me from supporting !
its sad that there is people going to games acting so grubby, i sit near coaches box and theres not a lot of bad behaviour going on but im sure there is a few other people in the crowd that will display poor form, in a way ruining it for everyone else who actually supports the team... so chin up matty theres probably more people glad you and your experience are around, and just watch everyone change their mind when you fully click with the team and destroy some team haha.

You have my full support Matt.
Ignore the buffoon who keyed your car, he was not remotely representative of 99.99% of the Canberra Raiders fanbase.

I really cannot believe some halfwit keyed his car over a Rugby League game. I have a good feeling he will have a big game against Manly and I hope not only is the royal **** who keyed his car banned from Canberra Stadium forever but faces criminal proceedings. No matter how bad the team is going that is poor form.

I am so disturbed by this that I would prefer the offender to be brought to justice than win another game all year.
Obviously want both to happen but this first.
I just cannot stand anyone damaging personal property.. I infuriates me to the point of no control

Re: Matt Orford support thread
Ok the guy played for two years overseas and then was out for 11 or so months with injury.
Against the Tigpies he got belted a few times and he got up and ran back into his line.
He has guts, and if you snotlings give him a few more weeks, he will show you how good he is.
I am 100 percent with Orford! ATM he is my favorite player!

I agree with everyone else's posts so far. While the results may not be what you want, I admire the way you've put in your best each game. Glad you're part of the team and hope you'll hit your straps soon. Carn the raiders

I wasn't a fan of Matt before he came to the club but the way you could see that he really put in and even in losing efforts turned me into a fan of his. I'm proud to support this club and Matt Orford.
Re: Matt Orford support thread
Very nice thread, and the chain of positive sentiments is the best thing this forum has seen for a while.
You're a true competitor, Matty. You wear your pride for the game on your sleeve and we recognise it. Ultimately, when I know a player is giving his all for our club, it makes me a very proud Raiders fan.
Go you Green Machine.

Hi Matty,
I talked to you at members day and you were an absolute class act. We are behind you and the Raiders 100% . Real fans would not do to you the kind of garbage you have copped so far from the car incident and the verbal barrage. These will be the same bandwagoners that will shake you hand when you and Campo lead us to a GF win.
All the best, im proud that you have worn the famous green jersey.

I've been a big supporter of you Matty all season.
Those touches to link up with Dugan on the weekend reeked of great footy vision and nous - can't wait to see more of it.

I gotta confess that I carried on like a pork chop after the Titan's match, and for that I deeply apologise. After the heat of the moment after that loss, I've watched Matty's performances and one thing is obvious, he tries guts out all game every game. He might not be at his best right now, but can see that he is improving each week.
I believe he'll soon be back to his best and is a great asset to the team both on and off the field.

Was a massive supporter of recruiting you and despite the 1-7 I am glad you are at the club. I don't think anyone else in the squad has won the team and individual awards you have, so your experience is an invaluable asset. All the best for your time at the Raiders!
