As with a a lot of speculated player signings, I wouldn't be too dissappointed except if we pay too much.

No idea of real figures, but for arguments sake, if Covell is worth 150k a year, I wouldn't be happy for us to pay more than 180k... So if management decided to bait him here with a 220-250k contract, then I'd be annoyed.

I can take into account the overs we nearly always pay for outside additions to the squad, but I always dread playing ridiculous overs.

What is the deal with Sam Huihahau? Did we sign the guy or not? I never saw anything official but the Souffs fans over on LU seem to believe we have signed him and there has been murmurs here on the GH. I don't think anyone knows?!

If Smith leaves then that would be an absolute huge loss for the club

They did announce he is leaving Souths today on the big screen at ANZ, along with many others.

Good depth signing. He's no Chris Heighnington but maybe a change in scenery would be good for the lad.

I would prefer Antonio Kaufusi though.

Plus Kaufusi is a prop which we don't really need, and Harrison is a backrower that we do need pretty badly and the club has stated we are in the market for one if someone comes onto the market. I think we'd be a big chance.

This is true, but you never give up a chance to sign quality. As good as Thommo and Logan are, if Asotasi came onto the market I wouldn't say no to him either. :P

I agree, but Kaufusi isn't good enough to warrant that. The chance has come and gone anyway.

Firman dropped off the edge of the earth. Sherwin would be a good option, Head is apparently off to St George.

Do Buttriss or Stuart Flanagan have previous half back experience? Linc obviously does. Could we develop all/any of these as back up to herb next season?
These seem better options than people like Sherwin

Raiders interested in Tigers unwanted

Post by Killer Green »

The West Tigers have finally realised that they need a massive clean out at the end of the season, the first to be shown the door will be Bronson Harrison and Danny Galea - At this stage the only team to show interest are the Raiders.

Not sure about you but I think our money can be better spent elsewhere?

Harrison could be a good pick up but I’d pass on Galea.

Actually Galea could be a reasonable depth signing if he comes cheaply - he's played centre and backrow and a little bit of wing as well if I'm not mistaken.

Buttriss came to the club as a Lock and was later converted into a hooker (much like what happened to HInchliffe, you'd have to say both have been successful positional changes)...He played 5/8 in the odd PL game last year but thats about it in the halves for Buttriss...

No Idea about Flanagan...

I think Waddell could be developed into a back up half, when he is at his best he is one of our most creative players in our TYC side. Hopefully Matt Smith goes to SL providing more depth in the halves...

From what I've seen this year Buttriss should be the number one hooker, and hopefully Withers will be played off the bench where he is best suited. At this point with what the club has come out and said about recruitment, I think Withers is definitely going to be thought of as a back up, or even first choice half considering we have Buttriss and Flanagan.
