Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
Re: The Union Thread
Ricky Stuart had a Rugby Union pathway to the Raiders - just sayin'. Cooper Cronk had a Union background in his early development years. There are plenty of quality players who have made and who could make, the switch. The trick is to get them in their late teens or early 20s and take the time to develop them.

Re: The Union Thread
They do have a 'set piece' though and everybody loves a 'set piece'. I flicked over to a Wallabies / kiwis game a few weeks ago and yes, right on time for a 'set piece'. Wallabies won a free kick from some sort of scrum infringement... so they decide instead of tapping and going, twenty metres out from the kiwi tryline, they opt for a **** scrum? They then got penalised for some sort of scrum infringement.
So I flicked over to an excellent episode of 'murder she wrote'.

Re: The Union Thread
Not one but two intercept passes thrown. The coach at the end said the All Black backs stand up and look for intercepts and the plan was to kick in behind their line. Didn't happen. The frustration in the Coaches voice was tangible. With his NZ back ground he is not used to teams folding the tent. They appear to be beaten before they take the field.

Re: The Union Thread
The Wobblies must beat Wales to stay in the RWC. I wonder if Madge is on the plane to assist with their defence. If he had gone with Eddie Jones and done the same job he did with the Raiders then the Wobblies would likely not have won any match so far. After all the only win for Eddie so far has been against the powerhouse which is Georgia.....
Re: The Union Thread
Beaten by Fiji and now flogged by Wales - come home boys. Eddie, you can stay.

Re: The Union Thread
Now we need Portugal to beat Fiji by about 10 points for Australia to progress beyond the group stage, as if.

Re: The Union Thread
Portugal beats Fiji but only by 1 point. So Fiji progress and Australia goes home. What an inglorious outcome for Eddie Jones and those who put him there. I expect the media to be brutal to Eddie. He has dished out a lot.

Eddie said he has had no discussions with the Japanese Rugby Union regarding coaching their national team. He also said Japanese no longer eat sushi.

South Africa have beaten NZ in the World Cup final 12-11. SA did not score a try and NZ had their Captain sent off in the first half.
Re: The Union Thread
It is no surprise that Eddie Jones has resigned as Wallabies coach. There were too many questions about his methods such as picking assistant coaches who had not played Rugby Union, picking an inexperienced side for the Rugby World Cup which included the dropping of Captain Michael Hooper who in Jones opinion was not obsessed enough with winning. It says more about the erratic Eddie Jones than it does about Hooper.
The players Jones bought in didn't buy what he was selling. RA Chairman Hamish McLennan should have a good look in the mirror. Former coach Dave Rennie was building an injury wracked team into a competitive unit. McLennan and Jones wrecked it. One has now taken the correct step and left. McLennan should go as well.

Re: The Union Thread
Shirley the CEO has to go for totally botching this up. Not that I follow it closely but it looked like Remie or Rennie (whatever his name is) was going ok with the **** sandwich that is Rugby Australia at the moment. I'm not a fan of the code anymore but having grown up playing it I genuinely fear for the future of rugby in Australia.
I'm not sure how they dig themselves out of this. Rugby league is really strong at the moment both in the product and the back office. The cap is rising regularly. Things are looking the best they've looked since the 90s - Simply the best era. Rugby union is the complete opposite in every one of those areas.
