Re: The Union Thread
So it looks like they are refereeing rugby union by the video ref these days. Reviewing any tackle that looks remotely high.

Re: The Union Thread
Euro-reffing comes to Japan.
Re: The Union Thread
Eau de cologne reffing from the Frenchman. Australia 3 tries to 2 and the Welsh are a good side aided by intercepts, but this is why Rugby is dying in Australia. No one wants to see dominant refs. Let the players determine the outcome of matches. Too much pick and choose when the whistle is blown and zero consistency. If we think the NRL has issues, then you've never watched a Rugby match.
Re: The Union Thread
ABC getting stuck into Sticky this morning for being with the England Aussie coach Eddie Jones.
Good luck to Sticky, if he can learn something which he can use to give him/us as edge next year - then all power to him. I hope he is doing some more player scouting while he is there.

Re: The Union Thread
I think they’re missing the point over in rugby union land. This is about Ricky trying to improve himself as a coach. It’s not like he decided... I want to help England win the Union World Cup!RedRaider wrote:ABC getting stuck into Sticky this morning for being with the England Aussie coach Eddie Jones.

Re: The Union Thread
Them, the Poms beat the Wallabies 40-16. Ouch. Cheika has said he would resign if we didn't win the World Cup. Cya Michael. Wallabies do not have the discipline to play low error Rugby. That comes from the coaching. Hopefully Sticky is learning that 'loose cannons' look good on highlights reels but by their nature will cost points in big matches. Wallabies threw away the match while the Poms were all on board with the game plan for the full match.
Re: The Union Thread
I honestly don't understand the games popularity internationally. It's a real struggle to watch, but each to their own I guess.
One thing I did notice was all the reserves hanging out behind the in-goal line and then rushing onto the field to congratulate their teammates after a try is scored. Tonight when the Frogs were attacking they were actually in the in-goal. Get off the **** field you bozos. It's a **** waiting to happen - like a Roosters trainer incident waiting to happen.

He has won two World Cups in a row, so probably has earned the right to leave on his terms

Re: The Union Thread
I went to the sports bar to watch. Good atmosphere with plenty of poms and safas. South Africa moved away from the game plan late in the second half and accidentally scored a couple of tries. Kick fest up until then.

Now Australian Rugby has a Kiwi CEO and a Kiwi National Coach. What could possibly go wrong?

Re: The Union Thread
True PJ but Nationality is New Zealand so a NZ citizen. Both parents represented NZ her father Bruce at Rugby League as Kiwi Captain and her mum Marlene at Lawn Bowls. Raelene educated in Auckland (Which I always thought 'that's in Qld, Qld's everywhere) but really is NZ.
She did a good job with NZ Netball but not so good with the Bulldogs in Rugby League or with Rugby Australia.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
