Re: The Wrestling Thread
Just finishing watching WrestleMania. I've been watching the last few Raws in buildup to the event. I really enjoyed it, all over it was a strong card and I don't think one match really stole the show like it has in the past, there were lots of good matches. I was shocked at the finish of the streak, Lesnar is now even more over as the beast, if he wasn't enough before. Bryan winning the Title was predictable, but still enjoyable.

Lenser didnt need the pull of ending the streak. Should have used it one some up and comer who the WWE wants to make the next franchise main eventer.
My old man loves the wrestling too, he recons there is some Roman fella they should have used it on... anyways that's my revisit to my former love of wrestling.

What a sad week in wrestling. Don't follow it anymore, but undertaker and ultimate warrior were my favourites.

Crazy that Ultimate Warrior died when he was just on RAW, talk about timing... Speaking of RAW, it was quite good. The Shield are going to be huge singles stars, especially Reigns.

They should have ended takers streak at 'Mania next year, when he wrestles "the icon" STING!! Who by the way is my favourite of all time (along with DDP and chris benoit) .
Also just needed to tell someone that I bought an official replica wcw world title belt off gumtree the other day for $150, and it f!@#$/ huge and weighs quite a bit. Now just have to keep it hidden from my wife for the next 50 odd years.(along with a few other choice little items I have purchased secretly throughout the years)

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Yep the same one. I dont like what he did. it was a terrible crime but he was my favourite since I was a teenager and I followed him from ecw to wcw and finally to wwf/wwe, I honestly still cant understand how a guy who, in every interview by other wrestlers was said to be the nicest guy in the business, a guy who loved his family so much could do what he did. I could try and blame the murders on some crazy conspiracies that are floating around on the internet (kevin sullivan theory). But he did what he did and nothing can change that, still one of my faves though as a workerManchild wrote:The same Chris Benoit that killed his family then himself?chris83 wrote:They should have ended takers streak at 'Mania next year, when he wrestles "the icon" STING!! Sting? Has he stopped digging for Billy in the well?
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

It's often a mix of drugs/alcohol/life style, leading to heart disease and the like. Wrestlers from the 80s/early 90s were rarely immune to drug use. And many were very very heavy drinkers.Johnny Ringo wrote:Steroids?Manchild wrote:RIP The Dream. A lot of the WWF legends I watched as a boy all seem to be passing away.

Some of the stories about Andre the Giant's drinking feats make the likes of Boony and Dougie Walters look second rate.Manchild wrote:Yeah i think life on the road takes its toll.Homer J. There's a good doco on the life of professional wrestlers. I think it was called Beyond the Mat or something like that. It's a real eye opener.

Beyond the Mat is an eye opener.
Tomorrow is Money in the Bank.
I hope Kane doesn't win same goes for Roman Reigns
It might be Orton or Sheamus
Kofi is just there as a spot monkey
Neville and Ziggler would love to see it but they are just there to make up numbers

Man, I thought Ultimate Robot Fighting was real, like pro-wrestling, but it turns out it's fixed, like boxing.

Daniel Vidot seriously considering a switch to WWE. If that doesn't work out he'll most likely join the Reds.

He has size and the look that they love, athletic ability as well.
If he gets signed by WWE he will go to the Performance Centre in Orlando to start. They will train him, realistically it will be 2+ years before he makes the NXT roster.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Can someone please explain to me just what the .... is going on in wrestling? When i started watching it it had guys who could wrestle a broom for 30 min and you would be entertained, guys like flair, anderson, steamboat etc then along came the N.W.O and wwf attitude but it was still great wrestling, when i stopped watching eddie Guerrero, benoit etc were out and out stars, could work like a machine and awesome to watch in the ring....... i watched a title match the other day, main event on raw between shaemus and seth rollins ( i think) it had a stipulation that it went for 5.15 minutes (no idea why amd the commentators wouldnt say) this is main event on raw so im thinking this is gonna be pretty good, it was 5 minutes of clearly pretending to punch each other, botching clotheslines and kicks, one poorly done "actual" wrestling move (a halfarsed attempt at a samoan drop) and ended with a run in.
is this the state of wrestling? What the eff happened to back and forth high intensity high impact moves, working and building a match till the crowd is into it etc?
can anyone explain how its gone so far down hill in such short time?
