I went to the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. This is nothing on the parochial rubbish in Victoria!

Too many speeches. Horrible entertainment. What a waste of an evening... I hope Schifty has been having fun with it on Twitter though.

How is Birmingham a "young" city? It looks like an industrial dump. I like how their iconic image is of a massive highway interchange getting you out of there.

Birmingham's "entertainment" doesn't fill me with confidence that it will deliver a better opening/closing ceremony.

I dunno... maybe they could bring Prince Phillip out of retirement and he could insult a whole pile of people?

They really are doing their best to make a grey, dirty city look like there are people who wear yellow and pink shirts. And that they even have gay people. I wonder what the Church of England thinks of that?

They must have invited Birmingham along to make the GC look good. That was really bad.

Kate Ceberano has been pretty good. But is she really the biggest headline act the Games could get?

Clear difference here between the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games.

Olympics: Kylie Minogue singing a Kylie Minogue song

Com Games: Two reality TV show runners ups singing a Kylie Minogue song

They could have at least got Daryl Braithwaite and James Reyne. Surely Daryl could have sung Horses.
