Rio 2016

Post by -PJ- »

So the Rio Olympics start in the next couple of weeks and Australian athletes have started to arrive at the Olympic village but guess what ?

The accommodation for the AUS athletes is uninhabitable. Leaking pipes, blocked toilets, flooding and exposed wiring. Our athletes have been moved into hotels while these problems are being fixed.

Not good enough Brazil....

I assume the hotels don't also have those problems?
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

I doubt it. The Olympic village has been built brand new and as is tradition it is behind schedule. Some of the venues aren't completed. It's all being rushed now because the opening ceremony isnt far away.

These games could be a bummer.

New Zealand Olympian Jason Lee ‘kidnapped by police’ in Rio de Janeiro

A NEW ZEALAND athlete says he was kidnapped and forced to withdraw cash from ATMs by men dressed in police uniforms in Rio de Janeiro.

Jiu-Jitsu athlete Jason Lee took to social media to confirm the news.

“What did you guys get up to yesterday? I got kidnapped. Go Olympics! #Rio2016,” he tweeted.

I assume the hotels weren't built for the Olympics - same issue. If they were built for the World Cup, then they may be falling apart already.

Is it possible that these games will end up worse than the Commonwealth Games in India?

Unfortunately yes. We will be reading about robberies, assaults, kidnapping and probably a murder or three. I feel scared for all those tourists visiting Rio during this time. The mothers/fathers and close relatives of these athletes should be very careful.

Honestly it's the least I've cared about an Olympics

If they ioc had any sense they would of pulled it and given it to someone else 2 years ago when they first started to run behind

I believe The Games said it "how many facts is a fact finding mission from an IOC delegate likely to find from the inside of a brothel."

And now the AUS team have had equipment stolen during a fire evacuation.

The actual games haven't even started and there's plenty happening.

I think instead of a medal tally, it's more like Survivor.

Some bloke on ABC radio said the USA men's basketball team (dream team) aren't staying in the Olympic village.

They instead are staying on a luxury boat offshore.

Yeah both the Mens and Womens Basketball teams are staying on the boat. Bloody good idea. They could all chip in the money from the ashtrays in their Ferrari's and hire it.

It was a very low key opening to the Opening Ceremony.

Nothing like some Parkour to reference France for a South American Olympics.

hmm, lemme guess .... the problems won't be anyway near as bad as predicted despite months of bleating about it and the Rio Games will be well remembered as the "Carnival" of Olympics. As soon as medals start flowing people will start talking about how Rio delivered against the odds...

Loved NBC kicking up a stink cause America in Portuguese comes under E

If that wasn't perfect for our timezone there would be no way I'd watch the whole thing

Shouldn't they want it to come under "U"? As in United States of America. Like they can't just be America. They're continents, not countries.

Plus it's not Portuguese that counts. It is French. As in Etats...

Yeah set up by sister Bronte who made up ground in the 3rd leg and pushed out to a lead before Cate dove in. Great swim by all four girls.

And Mack Horton wow, awesome stuff from him.
