The athletes seem to be physically capable, the swimmers at least. There was a collection of world champions, world record holders and fasted time this year holders on display. They were let down by what's between their ears. They choked.

That would make my Olympics.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Long Jumper Brooke Stratton hits 6.64m on 3rd attempt.

There's 12 competitors, only the top 8 progress.

Aussie Stratton advances after finishing 7th in rnd 1.

Russian Darya Klishina, who dabbles in athletics when she's not modelling didn't make the cut.

She's so damn pretty.

Fact - She's the only athlete from RUS in the track and field. The rest are dopes...

What about the 4 time Australian Olympian who had to rattle a can for enough money to compete and feed his only child?

What are people's thoughts on those two Aussie swimmers being banned from marching in the closing ceremony for missing curfew and not letting people know of there where-abouts? I understand that Rio is a dangerous place and therefore guidelines have been put in place- but at the end of the day these people are grown adults who have already finished their events. Surely they are entitled make their own choice to let down their hair and party after years of hard training.

I reckon a slap on the wrist, if anything at all, would have been suffice?? I agree with Fitzsimon's opinion in the SMH most of the time, but even he is backing this Kitty Chiller's actions to the hilt- and reckons this hard line approach to punish them is well in order. But too harsh imo.

Gatlin is running this year as a 34 year old
I'd love to see him show up at Tokyo and do the treble again, at the very least he might be to run a leg of the relay for them

Channel 7 need to have a look at how they are choosing which tweets to "promote' on Twitter.

In the last few hours I've seen a goal a hockeyroos scored in a 2-1 loss as well as one of the 3 baskets Australia scored in a quarter during their semi final pantsing this morning.

So all events over, we seem to have officially done WORSE than in London. Same number of gold, fewer medals overall.

Rio 8 11 10 29 10th
London 8 15 12 35 8th
