THE SPORT that was once a season-by-season proposition has roared past the AFL as the king of average crowds with V8 Supercars beating all the football codes when it comes to average attendances.

God knows why. I went to the one on the GC this year. Their skill level is very impressive, but by God it is boring and very, very loud.

Careful what you say about noise, a certain member might think you are hyper sensitive to it without knowing the full circumstances!Greenbits wrote:God knows why. I went to the one on the GC this year. Their skill level is very impressive, but by God it is boring and very, very loud.

Just remember the footy has 20+ regular rounds plus semis. The v8s have less one round per city usually.

I've lost a lot of interest in the v8s. Too much dominance from one team

Just wonder whats going to happen now that the Commodore will cease manufacturing.
Talks are V8s might move to V6s, or Holden will enter a version of the Camaro. Ford are considering replacing Falcons with Mustangs

Re: V8 Supercars now the #1 sport in Australia
The sport is nowhere near the AFL (6,368,346) and still a long way behind the NRL (2,888,760) when it comes to their total crowd. But with 1,459,824 coming in for their 14 events V8 Supercar have easily accounted for the other two codes. With all the sports major indicators up, Warburton spoke glowingly of his first season in charge.

Does it include Bathurst and SOO ?

Much like f1dubby wrote:I've lost a lot of interest in the v8s. Too much dominance from one team
Car of the future shook things up a bit, but it's been much of the same this year
Re: V8 Supercars now the #1 sport in Australia
So it's not actually #1... and it's not even a sport either!Raidersrawesome wrote:The sport is nowhere near the AFL (6,368,346) and still a long way behind the NRL (2,888,760) when it comes to their total crowd. I'd say that it is more of a sport than horse racing.

I actually don't get what the point of comparing a race meeting that generally runs for 3 or 4 days, against sports that run for less than 1 and then saying the average crowds are higher...
well yeah.. if you're getting consistently 60k each day compared with between 7-50k

People don't go primarily to watch the V8 races. Its just a good chance to cut the ball and chain from the wife, sink about 20 cases of woodstock bourbon and coke, boast about the size of your Holden and blow off a whole lot of steam about your failing marriage.
