I want to be the first, he will be the next big thing in international cricket.

Legspinner and at the same age as Warne a lot more skilful.

Nope, can't see it.

I have seen him play live a few times and haven't been overly impressed.

Yep, I'll go out on a limb here and will take more test wickets than SKW.

This kid will have to do it on his own though without a mentor like Warnie had.

SKW has lost touch with reality and this kid could do with his help, however I don't think he really needs the bad influence.

CA needs to manage him carefully and is already been looked at to going to India for a tour.

And Warne was during the BB.

He has talent, which is why after a couple of BB games he will tour India.

Some people can see talent and others can't I suppose.

Well, I'll guess we will find out between us who really knows what they are talking about :)

Well he is better than Steve Smith.

Hard to read too much as he had to play in a rubbish side in the hit&giggle comp.

Be interesting to see if he plays any of the 50 over games for NSW

The kid played in a rubbish side and was captained by a rubbish player.

I look at his technique and accuracy as a leg spinner for his age and he had all the tricks in his bag, well before Warne had at the same age.

CA has acknowledged his talent, maybe not worth its own thread atm but ****.

He'll be better than Steve Smith but not as good as Warnie.
*Edit*
Comparison already made

not having a go just curious.. still reckon he would need a good couple of years of shield and Aus A tours first..

You could take him and play him in warm up games, but he would sit on his **** for 9/10ths of the tour where he could be finishing the shield season

If we can find a decent leggie we would be better placed.. Lyon will struggle on pitches that aren't dry and dusty as finger spinners do see Hauritz and Krejza

Warnie could turn it on day 1 at the Gabba..

g'day LP, how's this Zampa fella going to take more test wickets than SKW when cricketers aren't allowed to play more then 2 games in a row ? it took SKW over 150 tests to reach 700+ wickets which means young Zampa will have to play test cricket until he is 75.... :hi

Very bullish predictions LP. He is good for his age. Needs loads of work on the subtleties of spin bowling though. Rushing him into the test side won't provide that... A couple of years in shield and I hope you are right :)

Bullish indeed on my part, two factors in his favour atm.

1 he is a better bowler than Warne at the same age.

2 Warne bowled against 2 of the all time greats in Tendulkar and Lara who punished him.

and 3 the Indians will be going through a rebuilding stage.

I'm a bit surprised the thread is still open today tbh today, I watched Warne through his whole career and I have read the post above with all the names mentioned however I see talent and if CA manages the kid properly he will be the next thing.

I prepared to eat my words on this occasion.

He is not a better bowler than warne at his age. ****. Warne didn't just learn how to bowl when he turned 23.

Also, there's not a spinner close to Lyon at this point. Beer should tour India and play as well though. He's suited over there I reckon. It's all about playing for the lb/bowled over there ATM.

I was talking to my old man about this the other night and even he rates him as impressive. And my Dad, as an ardent Victorian, never and I mean NEVER rates New South Welshmen!

Has anyone ever actually seen him play a game of proper cricket? You know, the one where you bowl more than 4 overs.

Answer to your question Julian, yes I have.

One first class match against Queensland and has figures for the match of 5 for 47.

2 for 30 and 3 for 17.

Once the shield games commence he will be on everyones radar.

Nickman your old man obviously has a very good eye for talent, you should listen to him more often.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but it seems that Cricket Australia have placed both Agar and Ahmed ahead of Zampa. Hopefully they'll allow him a few seasons to develop in the Shield before placing any pressure on him. That would be against typical policy, though. It'll be interesting to see how much of a chance he gets with Lyon going to NSW and the lack of overs spinners seem to get on modern Shield wickets.

Ive seen a bit of Zampa, and no way is he even vaguely in Warnes class.
Add to that, he will bowl on roads half the time.
Doesnt turn the ball enough, even if he has the temperament.
