Just watched the Hopkins thing and all it was missing was Chris Tucker running up and delivering his famous line from his movie Friday

I wasn't stupid enough to watch or pay attention to the Bernard Hopkins fight.

Boxing is a world of hurt. It's been that way for the 30 years I've followed it.

It's like a cockroach though. You can't kill it off.

And it only takes one good one to rekindle interest. As the Kiwis are discovering.

Not if they keep letting boxers managers pick opponents, as much as I dislike comparing the two the UFC had the right idea in regards to match making

The UFC is for blokes who don't have the athletic ability to make it in professional boxing.

Besides, watching blokes rolling around on the ground grappling with each other isn't my thing.

For those who may be interested, Junior Tszyu's next fight is on the Mundine-Green undercard.

Can't say I've got any interest in the main event, but wouldn't mind getting a first look at Junior Tszyu as a professional.

Hence why I dislike comparing the two, brings out the trolling on both sides.

Yeah look I don't pretend to like or know boxing, or any other combat sport TBH
I watch the manny v floyd fight and before that the Mundine v Green fiasco a decade ago.

But I saw the footage of the Hopkins thing and I saw a 52 year old man being beaten half to death and knocked clean out of the ring by a man half his age and well above his level (which is understandable given he's now fifty **** two haha)

I know boxing is struggling big time and the UFC is going to swallow it whole if boxing doesn't pick up its act, and that was an ugly look for boxing

I grew up on jeff fenech and then kostya tszyu and ufc just doesn't do it for me.
You could see early Green was pretty limited and mundine, despite his rubber band being snapped, i think when he knocked out timo masua that scared him that he could do such damage never saw him throw power again.
For a heavyweight Lennox Lewis just had way to much class for a brawler like tyson but for pure boxing insanity i don't think tyson can be rivalled.
Both tzsyu boys fight, look forward to seeing what they can bring.

I didn't watch Mundine v Green 2.

I did take a look at Tim Tszyu's fight on the undercard. Easy win for him (TKO3) following on from a good win in December (PTS6).

He doesn't have dad's 270 fight amateur background to draw on but he's a talent worth following.

Also Joseph Parker to fight Hughie Fury in Auckland on 6 May.

Tim Tszyu fights tomorrow night in Sydney & then again on the Joseph Parker undercard in Auckland on 6 May.

I was going to watch the Joseph Parker v Hughie Fury fight regardless, but looking forward to the undercard now as well.

Would be good if that Kiwi promotional outfit headed up by ex-Raider Dean Lonergan starts promoting Tszyu.

Tszyu could really be something but needs a decent promoter to get him the right fights.

Presumably Junior Tszyu will also fight on the Manny Pacquiao v Jeff Horn undercard in Brisbane on 2 July.

Yet to be confirmed.

TKO3 win for Junior Tszyu. Moves to 3-0(2).

Next up the Joseph Parker undercard in Auckland followed by the Manny Pacquiao undercard in Brisbane I reckon.

Yeah Ginga. That straight right hand comes hard and fast. Just like dad.

Junior Tszyu to 4-0 with 3 kayos.

Fights again on the Gold Coast in 3 weeks time & presumably again on the Manny Pacquiao undercard on 2 July in Brisbane.

He's worth following.

Another good win for Tim Tszyu last night.

Third round tko.

Moves to 5 and 0 with 4 kayos.

Looks like he's not fighting on the Pacman undercard (which makes no sense to me at all).

Scheduled to fight next on 22 July in Toowoomba against perennial opponent TBA.

Mayweather vs McGregor is actually going to happen... amazing.
The fact McGregor willed it into existence is an impressive accomplishment, it'll be down right epic if he can make the fight legitimately competitive.

That would be the greatest sporting spectacle ever witnessed! A coin flip to decide which guy has to get the **** beat out of him to earn his $100 million, probably fairer then this match will be.

I don't know **** about boxing, but my immediate hot take (and given I don't know **** about boxing, I am uniquely qualified to make such hot take)

McGregor doesn't have a **** hope in hell. Mayweather will just dance around tagging him all fight and win easily on points

It'll be a fizzer of a fight

Haha it's going to shatter every ppv record currently on file

And you're right, it's a testament to how stupid people are
I'll say I won't watch but that's almost certainly not true, I'll likely load up BIG on Mayweather by points, which means I'll watch
But only if it's at a pub, won't be buying the fight that's for sure

Don't bet Mayweather on points.

Mayweather will be able to hit the other guy at will and won't get hit with anything in return.

He'll stop this guy mid-rounds at the latest.

I am helping you. Keep your money in your pocket.

It's a world class professional boxer up against a complete novice. But for the money involved, it wouldn't get sanctioned.

If you want to make some money, back Golovkin to beat Alvarez three weeks after this fight.

He has been, but even with him, don't go overboard.

He's mid-30s now & is likely on the way down - which is why Alvarez has finally agreed to fight him.

Should still get it done though.

I'm pretty confident Mayweather will stop a no-fight novice. I'd be very surprised if the other guy gets to the late rounds.

Well at least enjoy how annoyed diehard boxing fans are, it's hilarious.
The biggest match since Mayweather and Pacman decided they were so far past their prime that they might as well fight, will be between a 40yr old retired boxer and someone who has never fought under boxing rules... still, it's better than watching a Klitschko bore both fighters and fans into submission.
