Another good win for Tim Tszyu tonight - TKO2.

Moves to 6-0(5).

Things will start getting interesting when they step up his level of opposition.

That southpaw Canberra middleweight who beat Shane Mosley Jr on the Pac-Horn undercard would be a very tough match-up for him.

Tszyu isn't quite ready for that level of opponent yet but it would be a good fight if it happens. They're both very heavy-handed.

Good profile of Junior Tszyu here:

Not much action on the boxing thread since I last posted. About time I brought it up to date.

First things first. Oinker (who I notice has gone AWOL), I hope you didn't back Mayweather on points. GGG got shafted against Canelo. He won that fight wide.

The real action atm is in the heavyweight division. Some big fights coming up. Lucas Browne v Dillian Whyte in London next weekend. The winner will put himself in the mix for bigger fights. Anthony Joshua v Joseph Parker on 1 April. Alexander Povetkin v David Price on the undercard. Really enjoyed Deontay Wilder's win a couple of weeks back as well. Plenty of other good heavies will be in action over the next 6 weeks or so.

Jeff Horn's fight delayed. It's going to be very tough for him to win in the US. It's a completely different caper fighting over there.

Domestically, Tim Tszyu (now 7-0(5)) has only had one fight since I last posted. He won a 10-round unanimous decision against Wade Ryan late last year in a fight that moves him to the next level. Got injured in the process hence the lack of activity.

Locally, Canberra middleweight Dave Toussaint won the Australian middleweight title. He's undefeated and is very talented. Worth a look next time he fights.

Both Tszyu and Toussaint are scheduled to fight in May against as yet unspecified opponents.

All quiet on the boxing thread.

I've been following the heavyweight division and local Australian boxing.

Tim Tszyu is progressing nicely. He's 10 and 0 with 8 kayos.

Fights again in Bendigo on 8 Sep.

I'm intending to go down and take a look.

I thought Floyd Mayweather had retired !!!

He's going to fight Manny again.

Why ?

He was quoted as saying- "Another 9 figure pay day baby"

I've added this muppet to the list.

If it goes ahead (big if), you've answered your own question.

Heavyweight action on Sunday morning - Anthony Joshua v Alexander Povetkin.

Povetkin a big outsider but a live opponent for Joshua, imo.

Tim Tszyu first round kayo in Bendigo. Moves to 11-0 (9).

I also saw Andrew Moloney who was matched with a world class opponent and won. Based on what I saw, he's a good chance for a world championship in the not too distant future. Current Commonwealth champ and former Commonwealth games gold medalist.

That Bendigo promotion was televised live into the United States. No television coverage in Australia mind you but US tv was happy to pay to take it. Must be the first time in history an event (let along a sporting event) in Bendigo was televised live into the US.

Anyone watching Horn vs Mundine?

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

KO to Horn over Mundine 96 seconds into the first round. Some good body shots followed by a left hook and it was Good night Anthony. Good tactics by Horn. Mundine struggled to make the weight and Horn went to the body to take the starch out of him. It worked.

Now he has had his pay day, I hope Horn can focus on regaining another World title shot.

Not sure what you mean by this GEM. Horn is a professional boxer who prepared and executed his tactics well. Horn has only been beaten once in his career by Terence Crawford in June this year. Up until the Mundine fight he has mainly fought high ranked fighters. He is 30 years of age and as a Welterweight at the peak of his career. I think he will probably have a couple more years as a professional fighter.

Given that he never ducks the tough fights I think someone like Danny Garcia would be a good match up for Jeff Horn next year. Should he prevail there, then someone like Shawn Porter, the WBC welterweight champion, would be a sensational match up.

I accept the Mundine fight was about the money after he lost to Crawford, but what was wrong with the Corcoran fight? He had had something like 20 pro fights for 18 wins at the time Horn fought him in his title defence. Pacman was unavailable and Horn put his title on the line against Crawford one of the best ever in this division. I don't think he ducks anyone.

Hoppa needs to sit down with family and think about this carefully.

He's already light on in brains and I fear Gallen could potentially damage any remaining grey matter.

Tim Tszyu 11-0 (9) to fight for the Commonwealth Light Middleweight championship on the Gallen v Hopoate promotion.

I'll be taking the PPV for that.

Good win by Jeff Horn against Mundine. Another nothing fight but a good performance from Horn nonetheless.

Will be interesting to see who he faces next.

Typical GH comment.

Following a fighter's career through from its infancy is what I enjoy doing. It's easy jumping on the bandwagon once a guy wins a world title. Following someone through and seeing how far they can go is what it's all about as far as I'm concerned.

I was certainly a big fan of Tszyu's dad and have enjoyed following the son's progress thus far.

Look forward to you contributing something worthwhile to the thread.

And so it proved Brewdle. Gallen knocked Hopoate out in the second round. Gallens boxing skills have improved. He said he would be hard for Hoppa to hit and he demonstrated it. Gallen now wants to fight SBW after the footy season.

Tszyu is a good talent which is why I've mentioned him here a few times.

But let's not go overboard. The bloke he was matched with wasn't up to it.

Tszyu needs to improve his level of opposition from here to build the skills he will need to cut the mustard in America.

There are actually plenty of good fighters in Aust and NZ who would give Tszyu all he can handle.

I'd be looking to import a couple of known quantities from the US out here for him to fight to get a better gauge of where he is at.

And then set about cleaning out the local ranks.

I'd say enjoy the journey of Tszyu's career rather than the destination because it's highly unlikely that he'll reach the summit like his dad.

It will be fun to see how far he does go though.

Tszyu can start stepping up his opponents now. Time to take on a few of his peers i.e. young up and comers. To date his main opponents have been journeymen. Capable but not a serious threat.

There are still plenty of Aussie boxers ranked above him in the division.

Good win by Andrew Moloney in a WBA world title eliminator today in Chile.

That's two kayo wins against world class opposition from his last two starts.

He's our next world champ. Might have to wait awhile for his title shot but that win makes him the mandatory.

Tim Tszyu fights for the Australian Light Middleweight title on Wednesday night against Joel Camilleri. Decent step-up fight for Tszyu with Camilleri not having previously been stopped inside the distance. Tszyu should win though. It's Main Event PPV which all of Tszyu's fights likely will be from now on.

Decent undercard featuring Jai Opetaia (who is also one of our best young talents) and Jack Brubaker.
