Panthers take Will Grier with their third round comp pick after trading away their other 3rd to move up for Little. Pretty annoyed... wasted pick... there are some good safeties on the board that we should’ve taken

I really like Grier and at worst I think he could be a solid back up in the NFL. I do agree though. Not sure why Panthers would go that way. He's obviously not going to compete for a starting spot and Cam won't be retiring any time soon.

Even a late 3rd compensatory pick can be used to grab a potential starter. So yeah, it does feel like a wasted pick. Grier should have been taken by a team looking for some insurance at QB or a guy who might challenge the incumbent.

Because....
Chaz Green sucked, and was released.
Friedrick got a horrible disease.
Looney was ok at centre, but isnt Friedrick.
Williams is still learning the ropes.
Su'a-Filo is an older vet.
Smith has durability issues.
Just signed swing tackle Fleming from Pats.
Collins is in a contract yr.

 I've been saying it for years, his rubber band snapped!

Wont go through much of today's draft, i'll wait for the draft to finish and offer up some general thoughts but specifically i think Miami got a hell of a deal on Rosen and i think he's got a chance there to be REALLY good. I think he's a pretty damn good QB

On the eagles, i was really happy with the Miles Sanders pick, i think he's going to be an excellent pro. He's not Barkley, he doesnt have his talent but stylistically he's a bit the same and i think he'll go really well behind this eagles line

Wasn't hugely pumped about J.J. Arcega-Whiteside initially. But i've come around on it for this reason, Alshon Jeffery is probably going tough to keep beyond next year and he projects really well as a Jeffery style player. So i get it, I think there was a lot of players on the board i'd have preferred.

Furious that the pats got Winovich, i **** love him as a player and think he'll be really good. And with only two picks left, i'd love to see the Eagles land Mack Wilson, who i wanted in the second, if he fell to us in the 4th it would be amazing.
Also my #1 Safety is still on board, Gardner-Johnson... there must be a medical concern because i dont understand at all how he's still on the board
The List - K.Love, Keno, Zippy's tennis angels, LA Lakers, Noah, Boozer, Lucy's horse tips, Colts, Lucy, Kevin Proctor, Dr Zaius, TR, Tinfoil hatted Gangers and Woody, anyone in Raiders HQ who can point to QBN on a map....

The Pats, as always, killed day two. Joejuan Williams, Chase Winovich, Damien Harris, and Yodny Cajuste.

Would love Gardner-Johnson to fall to the Panthers with the 13th pick of the 4th round, but don’t think it’ll happen

One of the biggest steals int he draft. Rashan Gary got all the attention while Winovich was the guy making the plays. This hurts doubly for me. Not only was it 1 pick ahead of the Dolphin but also have to play him twice a year. :x

That said I'm all good with who the Phins took next in Michael Deiter. I wanted them to fill the trenches and with minimal picks they went for best available on both sides with their respective picks. Also got a potential start in round 6 with Isaiah Prince.

As for biggest steals, I still give that to the Dolphins. Got the best QB in the draft at pick 62

@Pigman,
@Northern Raider,

You guys probably know better than I, but is RB Tony Pollard a poor mans McAffery/ Run DMC (Dester McCluster)/ Montgomery? Profile says he can play RB, Slot and returner. I assume we have drafted him to play special teams, but with Austin and Cobb, not sure how he fits in the slot.

yeah he's a scat back type and a return specialist.
I think maybe they think he can be a replacement on ST for Austin who they'll probably let walk after this year and maybe you can develop him into a 3rd down back role though i think one of the good things the cowboys did last year was start throwing it a little more to Zeke
Fit doesnt seem great, but if he's the best dude on your board, i think you just take them and figure it out later.

Mid round depth selection. He's your classic 3rd down back or change of pace guy. Lots of cred as a returner so easy to see him slot straight into that role. I'd say he's there as a long term support act for Zeke.

Can not state how pleased i am to have signed Zach Brown
I came out of the off season thinking the Eagles are pretty good across the board but the MIKE LB spot is a total and utter disaster.

Now we spend 70% of our time in nickle, where Nigel Bradham and Grugier-Hill will play because they are very good in coverage, but we really lacked a run stuffer who can shift through traffic and find the football on base defence run d. That's EXACTLY what Brown is. And ****, maybe with better coaching and scheme, he can push Grugier-Hill in nickle

I think if Wentz can stay healthy, we SHOULD be cracking with the best of them in a SB run

Brown is a very solid signing. More your nuts and bolts guy than a stats monster or big play specialist. Doesn't make highlight reels. He just gets to where the ball is and stops the guy with it. What more do you need for the position?

Big question is why only 1 year deal? It's limiting risk but by the same token removes any leverage beyond next season. Thought you could comfortably sign him to two or even three years knowing you'll get production out of him.

The eagles just dont value that position, it plays in 20-30% of the snaps, i think they expected to address it in the draft but their board didnt fall that way... one year deal, keeps them out of trouble for this year, and they'll have a **** ton of picks next year once the comps get doled out... they've got 8 right now, with probably 3-4 comp picks coming.
But yeah i wouldnt have minded giving him a 2 year deal, and providing that cover, the gtd money into the second year would have been probably nonexistent anyways.

NFL is such a news vaccum this time of year. Evidence being that this is one of the only real stories going around. Next round of free agency hits in a couple of days so should see some activity. None of these signings will affect compensatory picks so they are free hits.

Yeah it's been interesting to see teams play out this comp pick thing... there is some serious good players out there, like Suh is still out there. So yeah i think we'll see some of those dudes start coming off the board now.

I think they guy is sneaky good. Does the dirty stuff that doesnt really get seen/ noticed, except by coaches. 2yr incentive loaded deal would have been good, but having read your assessment Piggy, looks like a 'Golden Tate', '1 yr Golden pick' move.

Its an interesting one. Both are in the top echelon of interior D-linemen. Suh's production has declined a little recently but he came up big in the playoffs. In a direct comparison with McCoy it comes back to how much the coaching staff can get out of him on a regular basis.

This 'trade' is more a financial move than anything. McCoy was on the books for around $13m for the next 3 years but none of it guaranteed. I'd imagine they are getting Suh at a discount on that otherwise its not really worthwhile.

Often what can happen is Suh cops the double team. While he gets the attention it gives others the chance to make a play.

Definitely won't be lining up in the backfield.

Good combo of size and athleticism. Very light on his feet while maintaining power. Would project as the modern edge rusher, although not quite the explosive speed that some of the elite guys have. Given he's only 19 you could add a lot of muscle on the frame and turn him into a classic 4-3 DE.

He has the motor for it. But looks more a ball runner than a defender to me, as in, works harder with ball in hand than without it. TBF, most players are.

If we going to play on the offensive side it would be as a TE, though his height is slightly below ideal. They normally like these guys 6'5"+
