Good luck mate
Man Lamar Jackson is a garbage quarterback. How can these read option QBs keep fooling defences. It's not a new thing like it was 10 (?) years ago. If Baltimore gets behind big early can anyone see them pulling out a victory on the back of his arm?
Chargers chargered up when it mattered most. Off to Baltimore/Pittsburgh for the wildcard round :/

Surely Tomlin is fired. Arguably the most stacked roster in the past 5 years and nothing to show for it.

That was a hell of a day of NFL football... im also looking very good to some how middle everything and go 3/3 in my fantasy finals despite having an insane amount of common players in my squads and going against them
Re: NFL Thread
Seahawks in, I can always count on the NRL offseason to give me some joy.
Awesome day of football, if only they would play more Saturday games.
Thankfully I swapped my RDO from a Friday to Monday's just to watch American sports.

Simple, because it makes the game man on man. Beat your man to win the day. U screw up, you lose.PrimetimeRaider wrote: ↑December 23, 2018, 8:15 pm Good luck mate

Its a very QB friendly setup. The QB has 3 or 4 options, which means the D has very little, if any, room for error.
1. Rush QB too hard, he hands off to RB
2. Rush the RB too hard, he runs
3. Stand off him, and he can run or pass
If the QB can think on his feet instinctively, and gets it right 7+ times out of 10, and you are kinda screwed.
Re: NFL Thread
The reason the read option works for Baltimore is because their QB is a mercurial, transcendent talent
He’s not a traditional qb but with the D he doesn’t have to be. I don’t think you’re shutting him down.
Jackson only ran for 3 ypc, his impact is the threat of him freezing line backers and opening leverage for a north south runner like Edwards and that, despite the bad takes from NFL twitter, he can make some throws
He’ll never be a 70% completion rate qb, but his ability to keep plays alive, allows them to the get guys loose and he can hit throws when he needs to
This isn’t a revolution, but it’s an awkward style that ain’t going anywhere and in a one game season like the NFL is in the play offs.. boy I wouldn’t want any part of that

BTW, i didnt mean 70% completions, i meant 70%+ making the correct read option read.
Re: NFL Thread
na i get what you were saying, that wasnt a shot at you, it was a shot at NFL twittersphere who wants to pretend the to be successful in an NFL that is moving ever so suddenly toward hybrid college style offences, you need a QB with high completion rates
As author Ben Lindbergh titled his book on Baseball but i think is relevant to every sport - "The only rule is it has to work"
This Baltimore offence, built on Jackson's very unique talents, good coaching and very good D can work

Make the scheme fit the pieces. Esp when the QB is the most important piece on the board

Re: NFL Thread
Flacco got benched, they spun it as an injury, but ultimately their coach was about to get fired because Flacco stinks, they paid a pretty good price to get Jackson in and it was time for the Harbaugh to try and save his job
as it turns out, Jackson is good and Harbaugh has built a little something with him. Flacco's contract is a disaster and there is no chance he's on the roster next year. He gone. As he should be.

Re: NFL Thread
Also... BEAR DOWN.
Need Nagy, Trubuisky and co to deliver tomorrow... i doubt they will, they know they'll stuff Mini into a box next week at Solder Field, they dont want ANY part of the Eagles, who i think would beat them.
So yeah not expecting them to even pretend to try and win... but it'd be nice if they did.
Either way, the eagles will get what they deserve. The moment you leave situations out of your own hands and put in in others, you've got no right to complain. Eagles need a miracle. Lets see if St Nick can conjure one up.

Re: NFL Thread
We likely get Seahawks in wk 1, OR, Vikings, shouldthey win and Seattle lose.
TBH, i think we can take the Vikings. Not so sure about the currently hot Seattle.

Re: NFL Thread
Yeah i completely agree with that... if you guys luck out and get Minny, i think you'd handle them with relative ease. Seattle could be a REEEAL problem.
I don't think Seattle is THAT good but they know exactly who they are. And they have a huge HC/QB advantage.

Re: NFL Thread
in exciting NFC East news... RapSheet reporting that Jason Garrett, having secured a NFC East crown against a redskins teams playing its 4th string QB, and an Eagles team who might sack its entire medical team given it's injury situation... is safe.
The clapper is back, baby. Praise be.

Bears up 10, Eagles up 10 at the half.

Re: NFL Thread
Today could not have gone any worse for the Panthers from a draft perspective... leading into this week, we could’ve ended up with anywhere from the 7th to the 16th pick. With the jags and giants losing, best case we could’ve ended up was 9th. But alas we won a meaningless game and now we have the 16th pick. Pretty bloody annoyed

I think its great no team was trying to tank. Cardinals were going hard FTW even thought it was risking #1 pick.the bone wrote:Today could not have gone any worse for the Panthers from a draft perspective... leading into this week, we could’ve ended up with anywhere from the 7th to the 16th pick. It’s a lot more difficult to tank in the NFL than it is NBA. So many careers and jobs are on the line, that whoever you put out on the field will always be giving 100%. Saints had nothing to play for either so it was essentially backups vs backups.

HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!
Well...
The offense put up points.
The offense drove the ball when they absolutely needed too.
They did it without Zeke, without our All Pro linemen, and not much from Coopz, despite trying to get him involved.
BALLSY 2pt play to win it. Esp with just over a min left on the clock.
BUUUUT...
It was the G men.
They didnt have OBJ, but far out! Didnt Latimer do a fantastic impression of him!?!
Our D started well, but as usual, our inability to get off the field killed us. We STINT on 3rd down!
More awful penalties.
So, the win was important, even in a dead rubber, but it wasnt a good one. Seattle will destroy us if we play like that next wk.
Kudos to Philly for sending Eagles fans their very own eagle this wk. Oh... and for sneaking into the playoffs.

Honestly, i think both NFC-E teams get dumped out here in Wildcard weekend, but im really happy to be in the play offs
