The crowd isn't big at all.
There's a lot of kids wagging school it seems.
Didn't they return to school today in the act ?

Wickets starting to tumble now. 8 down and looks like it will be over fairly soon. Starc need 1 more to make it 2 x 5 wicket halls. Great comeback by him.
Marnus gets another wicket. Proving to be a decent back up for Lyon. I don't see him being part of our top XI but should be the first one called on if playing on a flat deck or turner and we need another spin option but want to keep 3 quicks.

Thunder will need to absolutely pump the hurricanes and hope the Sixers beat the Stars.
I’m a thunder fan but I think the heat will take 4th spot

Bit of a shame that it all goes down to a game where the light switches off when the Heat were getting pumped by the Thunder.

Yeah, I didn’t expect it to keep going and end up none for.
Those lights that came back on 5mins after the game was called off has worked well for the home team.

I like how everybody assumes Thunder were going to win even though there was 17 overs to go in that innings. Heat were in a similar position against Strikers and ended up winning with 8 balls to spare. T20 matches can turn around fairly quickly.
Thunder fans can't blame a non result if they miss finals. They should be focussing on the 7 completed matches they failed to win.

Thunder win that game more than 9 times out of 10. Fair to feel cheated.

If the lights didn’t come on within 10mins of the game being called no one care, but they did and it’s put the heat into like position.

They had reached the official time limit. Didn't matter if the lights came on 2 minutes or 2 days later. Game got called. Same as if rain stops play.
The reason Thunder didn't make the finals is because they lost too many games. Will be same for whoever misses out of Heat and Stars miss out. Win enough games you make the finals.

Ok so NR is a Heat fan? Acknowledge your light privilege man. Get woke.
Fact - the lights don’t go out in Brisbane and Heat almost certainly don’t play finals and Thunder do.
I really hate this “well you should have been good enough to make it from less games than other teams who are also playing hard to win”... umm why exactly?

Yeah, didn’t think you had a rational justification

I was forced down that path when my rational comments were ignored. If you want rational debate then I will reiterate.
The Thunder vs Heat game was a non-result as there were only 3 overs bowled and a minimum of 5 is required. The lights went out due to an electrical problem outside the stadium. The issue wasn't rectified before the time limit was reached therefore the game was canceled.
The outcome of the game was still undetermined. Thunder were on top, without question. Were they certain of winning? No. As evidence Heat were in a similar position to that against Strikers and won with 8 balls to spare. We also saw on Friday night Cutting and Bryant score 160 off 10 overs. Likely outcome was a Thunder win but it wasn't a given.
To blame that for the Thunder missing the finals is completely wrong. They played another 13 matches and lost 7 of them. They needed to either win one of those or have a better run rate (i.e for and against) throughout the 13 games to have made it. They didn't. A single non-resulted game is not why they missed the finals. It's the performances in the 13 resulted games that counted and they didn't do enough.
To believe otherwise makes you sound like Raiders fans.

Could the Thunder still have made the finals comfortably if they were a better team - absolutely.
Should the Thunder be focussed on what went wrong in those games to improve - definitely
Can the fans and players feel a bit unlucky and cheated that a game they almost certainly would have won would have seen them still make the finals. Particularly when it looks like it will be the team that should have lost taking their place with that point, and moreso was awarded D/L point in their other match where Thunder had faced 15 more balls for an extra 24 runs!! - certainly (Not saying that this isn’t how it should have been, but it’s fine to feel more than a touch unlucky)
These things are not mutually exclusive.
P.S. the Strikers game the damage was done by one of the danger players Thunder had removed (McCullum) and a guy who wasn’t playing the Thunder match (Renshaw). That Heat lineup wasn’t coming back, and that was clear in their unwillingness for any deals to play.

Ok you obviously know what was going to happen in the following 17 overs that didnt take place. I don't. I was using some examples if how games can turn around, particulary with the team in question. You have stated mitigating factors in those games assuming none of those could have taken place in this match had it continued. Fair enough as you obviously have far greater insight than me into circumstances that didn't get the opportunity to play out.
Fact is the game was called off and there was no result. If the Heat were 0-50 off 3 overs the same outcome would have occurred.
Whole argument will probably be moot if/when the Stars beat Sixers today. Anyway I doubt the Heat could win it even if they did scrape in. Batsmen are dangerous but inconsistent. Bowling attack is simply not good enough.

I support Thunder because they’re Green and my young fella likes them.
I backed the Heat to win the whole thing in a sporting comp I’m in with my mates. Decent prize money and heaps of banter. Cheering hard for the Heat to get through
