Mark Taylor thinks Mitch Marsh might get the #5 spot over Head.
And George Failey reckons Harris will be picked over Khawaja... they are clueless.

Hazelwood 3/16 off his four overs and Mitchell Marsh an unbeaten 77 in the run chase along with Warners 53 from 38 balls.

A T20 World Cup win for Australia. Congratulations to the Australian side. After the big loss to England earlier in the tournament things did not look good, but full credit to the side for fighting back and winning it. Now on to the Ashes.

That was just an abysmal location for WCT20.

No fans. Toss decided every match basically due to dew.

Our decidedly mediocre team (did we lose 4 of our last 5 series? 5 of the last 5?) wins because we won a few tosses that counted. We lost every match we lost the toss... as did 90%+ of other teams/games follow the toss.

Hands were tied cause of COVID, when it was originally due to be I think most countries had bad outbreaks. ICC were facing a massive loss cause of losing all the contracts so they just had to get it done.

2022 in Australia should be a good lead in to our home summer

Once we got into the Final would have liked to win it, but I've never taken the T20 World Cup as seriously as the 50 over one. It still comes across as a gimmick format to me.

At least India didn't win. 8 year trophy drought for them in their national sport.

T20s seem to work much better with the intra-country tournaments and players from all over joining in. As an international event it feels like 3rd tier.

Finch turns 35 tomorrow. He averages 35 in T20 international cricket. If it is his last game he goes out as a T20 World Cup winner. There are worse ways to finish.

The Test squad is in....
Paine (c), Cummins (vc), Green, Hazelwood, Harris, Head, Khawaja, Labuschagne, Lyon, Neser, Richardson, Smith, Starc, Swepson, Warner.

No surprises TBH.

Aust A: Abbott, Agar, Boland, Carey, Hunt, Inglis, Maddinson, Marsh, Renshaw, Skeketee, Street.
Not sure who of the 2 keepers keeps, nor do I see 2 obvious opening bats here - im assuming it's Hunt (apparently a Canberra boy... well, Cowra born, but ACT Cricket) and Street.

If I were to pick the XIs, I'd say:
Warner vs Street
Harris vs Hunt
Labu vs Maddinson
Smith vs Marsh
Head/Uzi vs Carey
Green vs Renshaw
Paine vs Inglis
Cummins vs Agar
Starc vs Abbott
Hazelwood vs Boland
Lyon vs Skeketee

Aust A bat deep with Agar and Abbott.

Sounds like it.
I confident he is 1 of those guys who is too good at state/county level, but not quite up to international level.

Can guys like Neser, Richardson and Swepson play for Australia A or their respective state teams? If not they've could be in limbo for half the season.

That said I firmly believe Richardson should be in the test team ahead of Starc. If not for injury he would have established himself as one of our top 3 quicks in the past couple of years.

Test captain Paine resigns after sexting scandal

Tim Paine has resigned as Australian Test captain, effective immediately. Paine has been accused of inappropriate conduct by a former Cricket Tasmania employee. Paine confirmed his resignation on Friday at a media conference.

In a statement CA said: "Tim Paine has advised the board of Cricket Australia of his decision to stand down as captain of the Australian men’s Test team, effective immediately."

"The board has accepted Paine's resignation and will now accelerate the process of identifying and appointing a new Test captain."
