That's the difference between us and Pakistan. Pakistan got into a bad position against West Indies and couldn't fight back

Can't believe we posted over 250, let alone 280.

Then to also see we won. WOW!

It was a good finish. Starc wrapped it up, cracker of a running catch by Maxwell, some pretty stupid shots played by the Windies with wickets and time in hand.

The boys are in this World Cup up to their necks.

That's 10 ODI wins on the trot and their in good touch.

Great knock NCN !!

And the return of Steve Smith is sweet timing. He's a class act.

I felt like it was not good to have Coulter Nile concede 4 boundaries to end the match but the fight shown by the middle - lower order and bowlers was excellent.

Maxwell and Usi in particular played some terrible shots. Reckon some other teams may try the same short ball approach to Usi now and see what happens (not suggesting he should be dropped, he has points in the bank).

Welcome back Steve Smith. Really held the side together early on when a class player was needed. The young keeper and two dads then were able to build the total from being defensible to being a match winning score which enabled the bowlers to attack. Stark was brought back just in time to run through the Windies lower middle order and Stoinis bowled tightly at the other end. Sure there are batsmen who need to look at both their technique and match awareness, but we are only 2 games into the World Cup so better to have the issues addressed at this stage than later in the tournament. India next. That should be a beauty.

They lost it more then we won it

It was about a run a ball needed for the last 15, and they played some absolutely horrendous shots

I'd say that's a tad harsh - pretty good job getting to 280 odd given the position we were in, and Starc and Cummins bowled well at the end... but yeah, there are things to improve in the bowling and batting departments.

That innings from NCN was sensational, especially under World Cup pressure.

Hopefully the batsman who got out playing dumb shots have now got their cobwebs out. Batting 101 to play with a straight bat early in your innings.

Biggest concern for me is the lack of a 3rd top line seamer, which heaps bigger pesssure on Starc and Cummins.

Looking forward to Sunday night !

I'd almost be inclined to rest Khawaja soon after the concussions he's had

He looked very rattled against the short ball, and he's just going to get bounced out for fun

I’m nowhere near as confident as most about the side. I think we lack a number 5 that can come in and hit a 90 strike rate 50 odd if were in trouble. Maxwell and Stoinis are both good at icing the cake but you don’t want either of them walking in at 3-30 or 4-40. I guess were just using the England playbook of living and dying by the aggressive play sword.

The bowling is also a concern. NCN is not effective at the moment and the other 2 seamers are no better. Behrendorff is good but can’t see him playing with Starc there. I also think come a semi final if you need a big spell in the middle overs to turn the game every opposition player would rather be facing Adam Zampa than Nathan Lyon.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

You could bring Marsh in and play that role. The problem is, if you need someone to come out and smash quick runs in that no 5 role, Maxwell is the better bet. It's a tough call as it really depends on the situation.

One advantage of Zampa is the perception he isn't that good so batsmen seem to go after him and make mistakes, whereas Lyon can tie up an end.

Interesting game tonight - we have a recent decent record in ODIs against the Indians (minus Smith/Warner), but could go either way.

Dropped catches, shoddy bowling. Not Zampas best day. If we win this it will be the batsmen pulling it out of the fire like they did a couple of times in India

Terrible bowling performance and yeah, not sure what the hell Warner was doing. Put us on the back foot right from the start.

When your struggling as much as Warner was you have to hit out chasing such a big total, it didn’t help he ran Finch out just as Finch started to let his hands go.

Stoinis is a pretty big problem in this side imo. Absolutely trash 5th bowling option.

Yeah I think we miss Jhye Richardson quite a bit actually. Stoinis, NCN and Zampa were all exploited. Which then puts a lot of pressure on Starc and Cummins.

Hazelwood not getting picked was a massive error

We basically have 2 quicks, and 3 guys that would tie for 5th change normally

Mitch Marsh in as cover. Stoinis with a side strain.

This will be an unpopular opinion but if Marsh is bowling at 100% I reckon it’s almost an upgrade.
