Phillipe and Henriques go bonkers at the SCG
Re: The Cricket Thread
It appears Usman's cards have been marked. Currently averaging over 60 in Shield cricket. If he was going to be picked it would be on his home track
Re: The Cricket Thread
It's definitely a mistake not picking him. If we win comfortably though, it may continue throughout the series.

A NZ bowler getting 10 wickets in an innings, then watching his team get bowled out for 62, is a vintage NZ cricket performance from my childhood
Re: The Cricket Thread
Haha yep peak NZ
Re: The Cricket Thread
Yep, I saw that on Saturday and thought I'd better tune it. India crushing them .... switch off... still it's a pretty impressive record

That BBL game last night was a horrible, horrible opening to the popular part of the Australian summer of cricket.

WA trying to nab the second test from Adelaide given the fifth test is likely to be moved.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Wanted to swap 2nd test for 5th test as players would be coming from QLD. Cricket SA's response was something like "thanks for the offer. Don't call us. We'll call you."

I'd be much happier to see the fifth test go to Hobart, personally.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Its the perfect opportunity to send an Ashes test to Tassie. Unlikey to get one ever again.

James Pattinson has been on the Horsburgh diet in the off season.

Well that was an amazing start to the Ashes.

Root to the crease and Cummins immediately bowling himself. Love it.

Joe Root departs. 3/11. Absolute scenes.

Tassie conditions probably suit the poms more than the manuka road.Northern Raider wrote:Its the perfect opportunity to send an Ashes test to Tassie. Unlikey to get one ever again.

7-118. Looking better.

8-122...
And now all our for 147.
And now all our for 147.

I have no confidence in our batting line up - wouldn't be surprised if we did worse.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Is the England bowling attack good enough to take advantage? No Broad, Anderson or Archer. Woakes' record outside England is very ordinary. Wood has yet to establish himself as a test class bowler. Robinson is promising but yet to play a test away from home. Stokes has hardly played any cricket.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Sensational opening day of the First Test Match for Australia. England all out for 147. Fast bowlers do all the damage. Green will be giving it to the GOAT. Where's your wicket GOAT? It will be interesting to see how Australia come up when we have to bat.
Re: The Cricket Thread
To be honest with you I haven't really been paying attention to the lead up to the series from the England side of things and had no idea those guys were missing. Probably fair to give the advantage to Australia thenNorthern Raider wrote:Is the England bowling attack good enough to take advantage? No Broad, Anderson or Archer. Re: The Cricket Thread
Very good first day for the new Australian Captain Pat Cummins. Personally he takes 5 wickets and his side has a day of dominance. There will be tough days ahead, but on Day 1 he is all smiles. Good Luck PC.

I was impressed with Cummins bringing himself on to clean up the tail and take the figures. Good capts knock, that

Re: The Cricket Thread
Poms attack is avg IMO. Only 1 of those guys is particularly scary. Not playing Broad was a mistake. Esp with Anderson out.Azza wrote: ↑December 8, 2021, 4:19 pmTo be honest with you I haven't really been paying attention to the lead up to the series from the England side of things and had no idea those guys were missing. That said...
I have ZERO faith in Harris. I bet his Test avg doesn't improve.
I worry about Warner and Heads ability to hit a moving ball.
As usual, we will rely on Labu and Smith.

PS. I've really enjoyed seeing Warnie get hammered on twitter for his Starc and 5th Test location comments.
