Langer's days are numbered. He's a control freak and that approach is holding us back right now.

I set up "office" at AB field yesterday arvo and took in the last couple of sessions of the Sheffield Shield final. NSW rolled for 143 so with no batting bonus points my understanding is they need to win outright now. QLD in control at 1-58 in reply.

Michael Neser and Jack Wildermuth did the damage with the ball. 5 and 4 wickets respectively. Neser deserving of his 5 for. Nailed his line and length on a deck offering a little sideways movement.

For QLD Joe Burns looked in great form up against Starc and Hazelwood. A very good stsrt for 20 until he got a pearler from Hazelwood and nicked behind. Marnus then came to the crease and looked every bit the dominant player he is. Rick solid defense then waiting for the right ball to dispatch. Bryce Street was his typical gritty self. He was challenged by the pace of the NSW quicks but wasn't about to give his wicket away. He's a real old school grafter. Lyon came on and really tested him. That will be an interesting contest when it resumes today.

Must admit it's awesome being able to head to the local park and watch some the world's best bowlers take on one of the world's best bats.

Marnus brings up his 100. He scores them for fun these days. Qld 40 ahead with 8 wickets in hand.

This feels like one of those games that is already over. NSW batted far too badly to come back from here.

Qld may as well just bat for as long as they can now.

Use the advantage of finishing first and grind NSW into the ground

The new points system is meant take that away somewhat. NSW getting rolled for under 200 took bonus points out of the equation.

Marnus is a class player so to see him score heavily was no surprise. To see Neser take 5 wickets in the NSW 1st innings was a big surprise to me. He skittled NSW and good luck to him for setting up the win for Qld. His second innings bowling of 1 wicket was more in line with what I was expecting from him. Congratulations Qld. Perhaps after a successful season the Blues were just expecting to win. They should not need the lesson of 'just turning up will be good enough', but the performance showed they still need to get the complacency out of their game.

I think that what may have happened. "We brought the Aussie attack, so, good luck".

Except their batting line up was rubbish

Hughes has barely hit a FC run
Gilkes is still a rookie
Patterson has barely hit one off the square
Jack Edwards flat out sucks
Sean Abbott wouldn't bat any higher than 8 normally, yes he hit a hundred against SA who didn't win a game the ENTIRE summer.

Warner, Smith, Henriques and even Cummins did a lot of heavy lifting post international summer to get them into that spot, and as soon as they went to the IPL it was really exposed.

There's no way NSW turned up expecting to win when they were looking at a batting line up full of successful test players. Same with QLD knowing how good the NSW attack was. End of the day it was a fairly even contest outside of Marnus. He was a class above everyone.

So this World Test Championship has turned out to be a massive bucket of fail so far. On the plus side, at least they have a reserve day.

They had 5 tests overseas and lost 4 (3 to Australia). 6 Tests and home and won them all. Australia losing last test to India at the Gabba cost us a spot in the final. Can't blame the Kiwis for that one.

Crowe is a tosser, and AUS are terrible in test cricket atm so I'm glad the kiwis won it - even if we did beat them 3 times recently and therefore are the best team in the world.

I do suspect the conditions probably suited NZ a bit more, can't see them pulling that result off in India.
