Paine, like Head, is a player where you know what you are getting. A bloke who makes starts but can't go on.

Our bowling has kept us in it. TBF, they should have won the last Test.

But yes, we have faced an increasingly depleted side, and therefore should win comfortably

Harris

Plenty of other batsmen who have actually handled test cricket before. Head, Khawaja, Patterson, Renshaw. Even Burns is better suited down the order that the irrational notion of retaining Harris.
Head, Renshaw and Burns were all not up to it either. Usman was the only one of those who looked the part. Looks like an awful lot of shuffling the deck chairs though. Patterson hardly has a run this season.
Head , Renshaw and Burns performance at test level is streets ahead of Harris. He's in the Cameron Bancroft category.

There's not much wrong with Paine's batting contributions if he's doing a good job behind the stumps. Something he's been good at. Concerns his work behind the stumps is slipping. If that's the case it's time to move on to somebody like Carey.

He leads the drops in the series with 5.
Pant 3
Shaw, Labu, Wade 2

Australia have dropped 12 catches, costing 389 runs, to India's 13 for 316 runs (Labu 5 of those drops for 212 runs).

Looking that way. Some rain forecast for Monday and Tuesday. Unless we roll India in this next session it will be hard to get a result.

Doesn't look like the pitch has much spice in it either. Disappointing, especially for the Gabba.

It's been like that a lot lately. Doesn't holds moisture like it used to.

Or possibly being prepared differently.

Edit: looks like the latter. A quick google search tells me Kevin Mitchell Jnr retired as head gorundsman in 2017 and David Sandurski been in charge since.

Mitchell took over the job from his father in 1989. Sandurski was previously working at the MCG.

Thakur brings up his 5 with a 6 of Lyon. Sundar gets his 50 too. Both took 3 wickets each. Pretty good effort from a pair of rookies.

If this was an ODI Starc would bowl at least 1 yorker an over. Have barely seen 1 since Adelaide

I feel like we have this rant at least once a year.
Tailenders can nic it like top order players.
They are also far more likely to miss the ball, and therefore LBW and bowled can happen.
Quit it with the short stuff

Another great catch for Green.
For a bloke that apparently never fielded at slip or gully, he is a damn good gully with great hands

Aiming for the stumps worked a lot better than trying to bounce out the tail.

Very much so. Current odds are:

Australia 4.50
India 18.00
Draw 1.28

The only way we win this is if Warner scores a run a ball 100+++. We are going to need a lead of at least 350 with 4 sessions at them again.

We then need the Indian batsmen to not only flash at everything but catch everything too.
