On the plus side that's one of Finch's best - has looked almost flawless today

Very bizarre action.

Loving watching Aaron Finch, playing really well controlled shots.

Haha come on, Warner’s not at that level.

Marvellous innings from Finch.

Enter Maxwell... with an actual license to play cross bat from ball 1

Geez we are terrible at finishing atm. We have too many accumulators and not enough power hitters, no 5th bowler and no top line spinner in the 11 (no Lyon is baffling). For all his critics, mmarsh may help alleviate some of those concerns

mMarsh? I'm not convinced stoinis is a good 5th bowling option, reckon M marsh has him beat there. If you mean stoinis in place of Shaun marsh or khawaja, yes I can see the argument

Yeah Stonis over MMarsh, in place of Khawaja.

I’m still of the opinion we should’ve taken Josh Hazelwood. I know he isn’t a genuine wicket taker, but with pressure built by Cummins and Starc, he could definitely do a better job than any other 3rd seamer we have available here.

MM vs Stoinis:
As a bat, I have more faith in Stoinis, and he has produced at this level. Both can clear the pickets though.
As a bowler, I think Marsh is more accomplished. Stoinis is more a 'very capable parttimer' as opposed to a genuine allrounder IMO.
They are both good catchers, and good in the field, so thats a plus.

Despite his 90, Id take both these 2 over NCN.

I too would have liked to see a genuine 3rd seamer though, esp in England. Not sure what Lyon has to do to get a run either.

Marsh is better in every aspect bar slogging from the very start than Stoinis imo. Marsh in for him. Shaun dropped and Lyon in for a seamer is our only chance imo.

I dont trust Mitch's nerves while batting. He is a flat track bully.
Stoinis isnt as talented, but Ive seen him win games with the bat, or at least dig us out of trouble and give us a shot - In NZ in his debut series for instance.
Id back the big game player over the more talented. Esp when 1 has proven a winner, while the other a choker.

Mitchell Marsh is not better than any cricketer on the measure “delivering on his talent when required on the field “.

I disagree. Look, I'm not huge Marsh fan either, but our bowling to me is the most critical issue and I have no faith in Stoinis offering a legitimate 5th bowling option when up against the likes of England or India's batting line ups. Marsh is a pretty decent bowler. His batting is sub-par - can't argue with that, but on the whole with what the team needs right now, I'd pick him. If anything, this might sound crazy but I'm almost inclined to either Khawaja or SMarsh and have both Stoinis and MMarsh - I know it sounds like a stupid idea at first, but our batting line up right now doesn't look balanced between accumulators and power hitters, and our bowling options are thin if things don't work with Starc / Cummins.

Also, it is beyond ridiculous Lyon hasn't gotten more of a go.

Marsh and Stoinis are much of a muchness really

I agree with Az that Marsh is a marginally better bowler in terms of the eye test

But if you look at their ODI stats and extrapolate Stoinis' to Marsh's, Stoinis has about 300 more runs and exactly the same amount of wickets

Yeah look i'm not hailing either of them as the messiah - but we haven't got the balance right at the moment and we're going to hit the business end of the tournament fairly soon (personally, unless we start playing the way we were a few months back, I think we will struggle).

As far as hitters vs accumulators, I think the balance in the last game was good, but rather its more to do where they are batting in the lineup.

Warner - hitter
Finch - hitter
Uzi - accumulator
Smith - accumulator
Maxy - hitter
SMarsh - accumulator
Carey - hitter

Bowlers...

The only one out of place is SMarsh. You could argue switching him and Maxy depending on the situation. If there are 5 overs left, you send Maxy, if there is 35, you send SMarsh. As the mos basic of examples.

Alternatively, you only take 2 accumulators, Smith, and a floater. Which means Smith bats 3, and the other comes in depending on the game situation. However, this leaves could leave you open to collapse, OR, a lack of hitting power late in an innings.

FWIW, Id prefer to see a MM or Stoinis batting at 6, but IMO, that would make SMarsh your 2nd accumulator, as he can bat in the middle order, unlike Uzi.

Fair enough there was no spin, but was he looping the deliveries at all?

Eoin Morgan hit more sixes in one innings last night, than Nasser Hussain’s entire 86 game ODI career.

So Bangladesh beat the Windies the other day. They chased down about 320 with 8 overs to spare. Not a bad effort.

Who remembers the good ole days when 200/220 was a competitive total in ODIs ?

Tubby Taylor blocking the first 15 overs for a handy 10 runs while Slater knocked the cover off it !!

1stly, that Rahim can play. Another 100 for the Banga keeper.

Warner... WOW! Classy ODI innings til he hit 100, then Bull came back.

Nice to see Uzi get a score.

Maxy fireworks was fun too.

I would have said MM hasn't delivered in either format.
However, would you believe he avgs 35 with bat and ball in ODI cricket?

Factor in strike rate, economy rate and bowler type and that’s top tier modern day all rounders if that record continues for longer.
