Cummins scored more in that innings than MItch Marsh has in his last 8.
The spud will probably get promoted to opener though.

I'd say MMarsh will be dropped for Sydney
He was brought in as a donkey to give the other 3 some support, but the batting needs to be strengthened

Re: The Cricket Thread
Absolutely, 141 to win right? Be harder not to make that if you survived 84 overs.
Re: The Cricket Thread
Joe Burns is in form and that should be the criteria for selection. If Finch is named as an opener in front of Burns for the next Test then, as Toovey would say, 'there has to be an investigation'. Given his batting form, Matt Wade should also be in contention.
These are players in form. Their non-selection is a travesty.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Maxwell isn’t a spinner in this format. He should be there as a batter though obviously.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Re: The Cricket Thread
I agree, but he could bowl 5-10 overs if Lyon needed a spell and obviously his batting would be valuable.
If we are picking a second spinner it has to be a leggie... but who?

Re: The Cricket Thread
We need someone in there at #6 who can bowl some overs but primarily to bat.
Maxwell is arguably the best at this time for what's needed.
Steven Okeeffe is another option but his battings not as good as Maxwell.
Or maybe the selectors aren't thinking two spinners and their more than happy with MMarsh !!

Re: The Cricket Thread
I don't think it does, the first test showed that if the batsman had some application they would have won. They learnt nothing, purely on that fact players need to be dropped.
The bowlers are masking the fact that some of the batsman suck and heavy losses would have forced the selectors hand.

And more arguably not. He’s renowned for playing ridiculous shots and throwing his wicket away. We have enough of that in this team thanks.-PJ- wrote: Maxwell is arguably the best at this time for what's needed.
On top of that all the signs are that he’s a ****. The team psyche is delicate at the moment. A no ****s policy should be in force.

I'm thinking ahead to a Sydney wicket and 11 blokes who can win us a test match.
.
We are in a terrible state at the moment. Our best batsmen is suspended, the the muppets filling in arent marking up.
I feel so sorry for our bowlers..busting the butts for extended periods of time because our batters can't occupy the crease.
We will fall short again today no doubt and the squad will get praise for staying in the fight and not giving up.
Our batsmen should be rightly ashamed of themselves. And if I was Pat Cummins is be letting them know.
Smith and Bancroft can't return quick enough..especially Smudge.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Didn’t Maxwell score a ton last India tour? Very difficult to do without being a high class batsman. We should’ve persisted with him instead of a Mitch Marsh.
I’m not concerned with him being an apparent ****, we’ve played with **** in our team for a very long time and won doing so.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Last time we played with a **** in our team three players got extended suspensions...
Re: The Cricket Thread
I still reckon those suspensions were far too long. Six months would have been more than enough... and we'd have at least a couple of decent batsmen in the team right now.

And what happened the many many years prior that we played with ***** in our team?gangrenous wrote: ↑December 30, 2018, 9:59 am Last time we played with a **** in our team three players got extended suspensions...
If the other players are comfortable playing with them and they’re good enough, they should be there. We’re in no position to be leaving world class players out.
If I was in the dressing room, I’d be more **** off at the embarrassing performances of Aaron Finch and Mitch Marsh, as opposed to the personalities of David Warner and Glenn Maxwell.
The bans were ridiculously over the top, tall poppy at its ugly best. Classic high horse bull ****. A hefty fine and a couple of games would’ve been sufficient.
Re: The Cricket Thread
I would whole hearted endorse any crowd booing Warner if he comes back into the team..
**** him
**** him
Re: The Cricket Thread
Was a tough penalty no doubt but you would imagine this sort of thing will never happen again within Australian cricket. Meanwhile over at NRL HQ we let women bashers, convicted felons and the least respectable elements of our society not only play the game but continue to drag the game through the mud, year after year. Now comparing the two sporting organisations I think Cricket Australia got it right and could have actually gone a little harder on Warner.yeh raiders wrote:And what happened the many many years prior that we played with **** in our team?gangrenous wrote: ↑December 30, 2018, 9:59 am Last time we played with a **** in our team three players got extended suspensions...

Maxwell is not good enough, particularly in areas of weakness (patience and batting time), to make it worthwhile putting up with any **** from him and impacting others.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Well, by the sounds of it Finch and Mitch Darsh are on the chopping block.
Mitch will all but certainly drop out for a spinning allrounder. Agar, Laubushange or Maxy. They will call it 'horses for courses'.
Finch... well, id say its a coin toss between Wade and Burns. Burns is basically a straight swap at the top 9f the order, with him ir Uzi opening. Wade would likely come in at 5, shuffling everyone up 1.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Labuschagne added to the squad, he'll probably come in for Marsh as a 2nd spin option
