took forever to get going, looked at my watch at 9.30 thinking they better get warmed up soon. Finished it off well though.
Just felt a bit "through the motions"

Maybe they're wearing out a little.
They're gigging every 2nd or 3rd day with travel in between.

It can't be easy...especially on Garrett.

Even after they finished up back in 2002 they did a few benefit concerts and I thought back then Garrett was...well not Garrett..if you know what I mean. The other band members have kept playing with side projects.

I thought the one two punch of Red Neck n Read About It was a great start, sure In The Valley was a slow choice for third tune but they probably needed a breather after the first two, particularly when they smashed out Stand In Line 4th.

Rob is having a little trouble with his voice, bit of laryngitis maybe, his drumming hasn’t suffered though.

The only things that let down Hope Estate for me was the abysmal toilet setup and the $9 beer flavoured mid strength cordial they were selling!

And Ash Grunwald was the best support band of the tour so far, had the rhythm section of The Living End with him, cracking heavy blues! If you haven’t heard him, as I hadn’t before Saturday, do yourself a favour!

Other support bands I’m looking forward to are Spiderbait, The Living End and John Butler Trio

they are all awesome supports!

my mate owns a studio, had ash grunwold in practising all week leading up.

In hindsight maybe i just had too much anticipation and i hate hope estate, Bimbadgen is streets ahead but hope get the big acts due to 25k capacity.

The Oils had to cut short their gig last night when guitarist Jim Moginie fell from the stage.

Apparently waiting to see if Jim can finish the 4 remaining shows or the Oils will be chasing a replacement.

Jim has torn his hamstring clean off the bone and may need surgery.

The Oils play in Syd tomorrow and Jim could possibly miss unless he plays sitting.

Saw Live, Lifehouse, The Calling and Thirsty Merc (AKA Triple M’s entire playlist) at the Roche Estate in the Hunter Valley last night. God it was a good night. I don’t think I’ve seen a band that has been such an influence on my teenage years like Live. It was almost spiritual.

Highlight was hearing them cover You’re the Voice. It was so good

Love the lyrics too...

When I wake up in the morning, love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
And something without warning, love
Bears heavy on my mind
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
A lovely day
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
A lovely day
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
A lovely day

And there is this very sexy/sultry woman in the music video playing harmonica..wow.

What were other people’s favourite songs of 2017? A weaker year of music than the previous IMO.

RIP Dolores.

I'll never forget the time I first heard linger.

And every time I hear ode to my family I actually shed a tear because I've lost 3 generations of them and I miss them terribly.

My mother, she hold me
When i was out there
My father
He like me
Does anyone care?

Understand what I've become
It wasn't my design

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Have set up my new Sonos system... got rid of the amp and cd player and big speakers... and it is pretty darn close, without the bulk of equipment.

Just listening to Harry Connick Jnr, "We are in love". I played this to death when I lived in Paris. He is one of my favourite artists. I love the whole album, not listened to it for an age, but it is every bit as good as it was in 1990. He is Chet Baker, early Frank Sinatra league.

Watching the footy with the sound turned down, and it is probably better this way.

I am just being haunted by "Spring Awakening" at the moment. I wish I had discovered it a decade ago when it was being staged on Broadway. You can no doubt find the whole soundtrack and on YouTube and elsewhere... The bitch of living and Totally **** are amazing songs... all of them are. Can't stop listening to it, and all the songs just kill me. Not a good time to be depressed... given how the Raiders are going!

What a song...

Awful sweet to be a little butterfly
Just winging over things
And nothing deep inside
Nothing going, going wild in you
You know
You're slowing by the riverside
Or floating high and blue
Or maybe cool to be a little summer wind
Like once through everything
And then away again
With the taste of dust
In your mouth all day
But no need to know
Like sadness
You just sail away

'Cause you know
I don't do sadness
Not even a little bit
Just don't need it in my life
Don't want any part of it
I don't do sadness
Hey I've done my time
Looking back on it all
Man, it blows my mind
I don't do sadness
So been there
Don't do sadness
Just don't care

Interesting.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.

Yeah it would be a great collaboration. Not sure how fans will take it, though. It's a bit like going to see Queen and having to also see Adam Lambert. But possibly not quite so bad.
