The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

I bow down to thee oh great Nickman, the wisest of the wise, your political adroitness is unsurpassed, your sagacity is unmatched, your wisdom shines through on this forum amongst us mere mortals as bright as your scalp under the light of a full moon, never shall I doubt your analytical prowess again. Yeah I'm fine thanks GE. Loving life.
This song resonates with me because work has been crazy. A lot of in fighting and internal/external politics going on. It gets tiresome, and I just want to go home to Mrs Fui, make her laugh and forget about all that's going on

The Music Thread
Yeah, to me, I think it's about a guy who's at a work function, who doesn't want to be there. Maybe a little socially awkward, and doesn't feel like he belongs. And he's over it and wants to get out of there and back to his love, who makes him feel normal.
Maybe I'm pushing my thoughts onto the song haha
"I leaned on the wall and the wall leaned away." Ugh, what a line

Three shows into my Midnight Oil 11 gig year, still got Canberra, Perth, Freo, Wodonga, Hanging Rock, Melbourne, Sydney and the Gong to go. The boys are on fire, if you can get to a show do it!

Re: The Music Thread
They can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned, I was mid stage not far from the mixing desk, sounded great. The only disappointment for me was not enough early stuff, they had Don’t Want To Be The One on the setlist but didn’t play it. Hopefully that situation will be rectified on Tuesday night!
But first is Alice Cooper and Ace Frehley tomorrow night, a quick interlude in the Oil trip

HOW'S THE HEARING BREWDLE?
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.
