Howland Reed really is the missing piece in this whole puzzle. I’m assuming as they flee through the Neck after losing the Battle of Winterfell he will finally make an appearance.

I reckon it lived right up to the lofty expectations. Will wait till others chime in before discussing specific details.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 8 *Spoilers*
I can't say it's flawless. A bit hard to follow the action on occasions but I think that was intentional to create a chaotic feel. A few time we saw people about to be overwhelmed then a cutaway shot shows wights attacking in single file and the hero keeping them at bay. This is a bit nitpicky as overall the sequences were tremendous.
Have to admit the ending as a little predictable. We knew what was going to happen. Only needed to see how it would happen.

Dang.
I just finished it. It lived up to my expectations. Was nothing like I was predicting and I loved that.
Time for the North to send ravens to everyone alive and tell them how Cersei backstabbed the soldiers defending the living

I would have liked more meaningful deaths, just 1-2 more. Same as another thing i saw recently which was a little let down, but i think this one delivered it a little more.

It was original, impactful and definitely not predictable.
Agree with Piggles that we probably needed 1 or 2 major deaths to really hit a home run. As it turned out we lost a number of 2nd tier characters but all the key ones survived. A tougher attrition rate might have given the episode that little extra gravitas needed to take it right to the pinnacle of the series.

It was pretty good. Not as good as last week though. The battle thing stretched interminably.

Christ some of you people are hard to please
The brilliance in the tying together of all those of those story arcs. The reference to Syrio, the purpose of Dondarrions deaths, the history of the dagger, the adventures of the Red woman, all culminating in that moment. Fantastic.

Game of Thrones Season 8 *Spoilers*
After sleeping on it, I’m thinking the reason we got off easy with the kill count is to have a bigger punch in the next battle.
The idea of surviving waves and waves of undead troops, just to get picked off by Cersei and the Golden Company is going to be tough to handle.
Did anyone else fear a Tyrion/Sansa double suicide in the crypts?

Game of Thrones Season 8 *Spoilers*
No way. They either both die or neither of them do. I’m tipping the former.greeneyed wrote:Dany is going to die. Jon Snow will rightly take the Iron Throne. I am happy with that.
I absolutely LOVED that episode, as it was edge of the seat the whole time, but so much of it was just unrealistic. Like, why did the North just run off into the dark beyond their battle lines? Such stupid tactics. And there were so many wights everywhere, like NR said, how did they not just overwhelm everyone? How did Theon and his mates hold them off with fricking bows and arrows for so long?
I have to say the ending with Arya threw me though, I wasn’t expecting that... I actually thought the dead would win and the remaining heroes would have to retreat to at least the Neck. When Arya jumped on the NK, I still thought he was going to win, I screamed “Not Arya!”, but she caught the dagger and finished him! We both cheered so loud, we thought they were all screwed and couldn’t see how they would get out of it.
Looks like the final battle will be between the living at King’s Landing, I was sure it would be humans vs dead... Dany only needs one dragon to win this, I’m certain at least Drogon survived.
One wonders how this whole season plays out in the books if he ever gets to finish. One glaring difference is Beric is already gone in the books and replaced by Lady Stoneheart (Cat Stark), will she die in this battle in his place?

This is my thinking also. I think they'll both die, but if they survive, they'll run off and disappear. Maybe even back to Mereen. The Rickman wrote: ↑April 30, 2019, 8:42 amNo way. They either both die or neither of them do. I’m tipping the former.
I wondered that too! There were no signs of the battle beginning, nek minnit, the Dothraki just ride off into the darkness without warning. I was like "Right, ok, guess it's started"The Rickman wrote: ↑April 30, 2019, 8:42 amI absolutely LOVED that episode, as it was edge of the seat the whole time, but so much of it was just unrealistic. Also, why did the Walkers just stop and stare at the fire once the barricade got lit? Absolutely dead in their tracks. When they started literally smothering the flames, I thought I was about to die!
Theon - I was just glad they were able to show that they are as awesome at archery as they have bragged to be.
It got me as well. In those seconds, I went from yelling "Oh no, she's gone!" to "Wait.. no.. this isn't happening.. Bran, do something and shank him .." to "Get in Arya!"The Rickman wrote: ↑April 30, 2019, 8:42 amI have to say the ending with Arya threw me though, I wasn’t expecting that... I don't know if I'm over thinking it, or if there was some call outs to previous eps in that scene. I just kept thinking about how she snuck up to Jon in their reunion, so she knew how to get into that spot stealthily. Also fitting that the dagger intended to kill Bran was the dagger that saved him.
Side note - Jon wouldn't have known about Arya getting the NK. I like to think there's a brief moment where he thought him staring down the Dragon and screaming at it ended the war.
I've been trying to find a status update for the dragons. Was the Dragon Jon stared down the one he was riding, or the NK's?The Rickman wrote: ↑April 30, 2019, 8:42 amLooks like the final battle will be between the living at King’s Landing, I was sure it would be humans vs dead... Re: the unrealistic thing that the wights didnt just overwhelm everyone, i think they did a decent job of showing just how overwhelming they were, and that the North were absolutely going to lose and be wiped out completely if they didnt get the NK. But also i dont hold it too much against them that it was unrealistic... this is a show with white walkers, dragons, and magic... the show itself is unrealistic
Drogon is definitely survived and i think Jon's dragon did too. Ghost is also confirmed has having survived by some screen cap of the preview next week

I don't see how Cersei can remotely cope with two dragons now, so my question has to be... how can they even fit the show into four remaining hours from here?? The march to and battle for King's Landing should be what, two hours tops?? Is it then just two hours of everyone sitting around drinking and Arya **** Gendry??

Ep 4: Winterfell aftermath, wrapping up everything there and beginning the march on Kings Landing.
Ep 5: Kings Landing battle, probably as cliff hanger

Ep 4: Aftermath, rallying the troops, sending Ravens to everyone declaring Cersei betrayed the living, march onto Kings Landing. Maybe even a Howland Reed reveal
Ep 5: Kings Landing battle
Ep 6: Aftermath of the battle, installing democracy, voting for the new leader, maybe even a civil debate on immigration / carbon tax and tax cuts for low income workers.
Surely somewhere, someone will have to deal with the Bank of Braavos and settle that debt

Also, anyone foresee a chance the Iron Bank come out and day “Right, Cersei, you have all of Westeros coming for you because you didn’t protect your people from a potential undead slaughter. They’re also bringing with them two Dragons. We don’t think you’ll be able to win this war, so we’re withdrawing our investment. Toodle-pip and good luck”?
I’m a little bit hung up on the reliance of the Iron Bank, and who (If anyone) will repay the Golden Army loan.. blame it on the day job haha
